New Effects & Detailed Cockpits Coming in Tusk Force!

Tusk Force doesn’t just bring new vehicles, it also brings some new effects and detailed cockpits! Today, we’ll be taking a detailed look at some these upcoming improvements.

Detailed Cockpits

We’ve updated the cockpits of two planes and a helicopter. For these screenshots, we’ve turned off the pilot model in cockpit to give a clearer view. Take a look below!

Please note that the Mi-8 and Ka-29 detailed cockpits that were spoken about in the Community Update post post still need some more work and won’t be ready in time for Tusk Force, these will come to the game in the future.

New Fuel Dumping for Several Aircraft

In the previous major update, we introduced the fuel dumping mechanic to just the F-111. We’ve now gone ahead and added this mechanic to a variety of jet aircraft, some of which include the Su-27s, F-14, F-18, Typhoons, Rafale, Tornados, Harriers, and many more. Here’s some cool screenshots!

If you’d like to try, you’ll need to keybind the following: Controls > Aircraft > Fuel dumping.

The Gripen has one nozzle that can be ignited

F-15

Su-30SM

The F-15 and Su-30SM have two nozzles

The Harriers have two nozzles, one on each wing

The Typhoons have the nozzle at the top of the vertical stabilizer

Procedural Destruction Of Trees

Before, trees would fall down in their entirety when shot at. We’ve updated the destruction of trees so that they break apart, depending on where you shot them. For example, if you shot the top of a tree, the part above where you hit would be sheered off and the rest of the trunk would remain.

Shooting the lower, medium and top part of a tree

Updated Tank Flame Effects

The fire effect when ammunition cooks off in ground vehicles such as the Leopard and Abrams and the general fire effect of ground vehicles after they are destroyed have been updated! Fire now sways and curls in a constant motion, making it look more realistic.

New Flame Effects

Thicker Rocket & Missile Smoke Trails

Rocket and missile smoke trails have now been made thicker and more apparent with extra details, helping to see where they are while in flight! The flame effect of rocket and missile motors has been made more apparent too.

Updated missile smoke trails

That’s it for today. Tusk Force is almost ready to release now, so stay tuned to the news for announcements!

Gaijin not implementing something that isn’t 100% finished is uncommon and very nice to see.

Am looking forward to the models in the update after this one!

Does look nice. Though would be also be nice if things like the Sea Harrier got a finished cockpit. Started 6 months ago and its still a buggy unifnished mess. Doesnt even have a gunsight.

Does look good, though I hope my reports actually get actioned. The main one being: Community Bug Reporting System

This is cool though I fear this jsut gunna make ULQ even more OP.

I would prefer work on low light conditions.

War Thunder looks spectacular when it is sunny and there are sharp shadows, but not so much in cloudy, foggy conditions.

Let us to disable cockpits via settings (other than with SD Client)

What’s up with the right MFD screen on the new Comanche cockpit? Is it not going to be functional or is it just not on for the screenshot? Also some of the screens aren’t accurate like the map screen and radar screen.

Those screens and the right display should look like these.

Also missing a screen showing the armament being carried. (Not the best photo but you can clearly see what looks like a display for the weapons that are in the internal bay.)

I was so confused there for a couple of seconds, “why would a ship have fuel dumping mechanics??” , until i saw the plane… x)

This actually looks really cool, will this also change the effect when trees are driven into?

Will the thickness and visibility of the smoke trail vary between different missiles or will they all have the same effect?

The new effects and trees are outstanding!

This looks amazing from the air, but with current ground based rocket launchers such as the Raketenautomat, Magach Hydra and LAV-AD, it looks awful from the ground, and especially when you are being shot at with such rockets, it is impossible to see anything at all, for a considerable amount of time. I love the improvement of the grahics, but you just need to remember that you can’t go overboard or else it significantly negatively effects gameplay.

Good stuff here, especially for trees, hope we can make some logging with auto-cannons… oh wait wrong game, this is not Snowrunner :D

Almost a year since we got vapor effects, I hope that eventually, with updates like this, they’ll look closer to this:

I know some might say they’ll be annoying or obstructive, but they are just too cool to be left like they are implemented now.

Looks lovely but im afraid this will only make trees sticking to tanks worse.

Since we don’t have U-boats yet, we now can kill coral reefs.

I was thinking you could dump fuel to make any ship chasing you spin out :P
