game recommended to spawn on airfield due to bad weather
spawn and get instalocked by IRST
15 seconds later im dead
is this gonna stay like this or the devs will fix it?

This happened likely because the anti-air was placed on the opposite side of their team, likely near your ground vehicle spawn, as the Carpathians map is just a huge mountain, players have a nice view to the airfield, same is applied in flat and long range maps like Sands of Sinai.
From what I could notice: the player spawned the anti-air vehicle on their spawn or in other secure position and moved the commander/radar vehicle to a position where it could see the airfield, since the commander/radar works like the eyes for the missile, it didn’t matter where it was, it would hit you anyways.

well you probably are right but do we think that this is ok? an airfield just in range of anti air? I hope they move the airfield or put some cover for it. Or even better yet, maybe some airfield anti air? that shoots down missiles and planes. They should probably be destroyable cuz if not that would be not balanced at all, but definetly not like this, that they cant even take off
Airfield defense is terrible, it doesn’t counter ammunition and barely other planes, so when you find yourself trying to flee to the airfield in a way to save yourself, better off keeping flying straight until the guy go away. Though some may say it’s fine or some may say no, I would say it’s a no go, Carpathians and various other maps in War Thunder suffer from this terrible design choice that can take years to be changed, Sands of Sinai recieved some heavy changes through years until it’s at the situation we find ourselves.
