Nerf Japanese planes

It’s the armanent and insane maneuvrability at most combat speeds.
In other words - going fast or slow - you’re getting DESTROYED if you do anything but bolt ASAP from any kind of maneuver combat.
And most players have a hard time understanding they simply have to run.
Damn, you’re getting destroyed if you’re not really good at head-ons, cause properly flown Zero can push head-ons at any opportunity.
Is it a winning strategy for a good player?
Nope, cause it often ends in trading.
Is it a good tactic for a bad player to deny a player with position advantage the fire opportunity/trade while being much lower on energy?
Hell yes.

There’s no “safe” way to approach a Zero, other than being 2nd guy attacking the same target, if Zero guy has any braincells.

EDIT:
Do Japanese planes need a “nerf”?
I think everyone would be happier, including Japanese plane users, if some fixes were done to armanent, high speed maneuvrability and BR, so they have their propr strengths while not being extremely slow for their BR.

I also understand how facing US and Brits may be a different story, due to their higher velocity armanent.

Right now I’ll struggle vs A6M5 just as much in Ta-152H as in Bf 109 G6, so to me, current A6M5 BR placement is also “not really fun”, damn, move it to 4.0 so I won’t be seeing it any more :D

What I don’t struggle vs A6m5 with is Wyvern, becausee I can just fire 300 shells from 2km away and I’m 100 to 180km/h faster depending on alt.

Zero does not turn at high speeds, but at low speeds it is easy to escape. Damn, magically sometimes the IL-2 is more maneuverable than Japanese fighters. In my experience, I rarely get more than 2 kills. Maybe I’m playing too conservatively. But that’s no reason to punish the Japanese for being good pilots. Following the spiral of madness, soon the A6M3 will be 7.0, the Ho-5 and Type 99 cannons will have paper-mache bullets, the Ki-44 will have negative climb speeds. In my opinion, German and Soviet fighters are much worse enemies than the difficult-to-operate A6M fighters. The Japanese are often overvalued, their equipment stolen, their role changed pointlessly (magically, an air support plane is an interceptor) and weakened. I don’t want to log in one day and see that all I have in my hangar is a pile of unplayable junk. Playing with Japan on the ground, in the air and on the water is a challenge to accomplish, but the crying Americans, the Germans and the Russians, want to make the Japanese feel like it was the summer of 1945, that is, you can take off, but you are actually dead.

Edit: I didn’t need to get so angry, but you wouldn’t want your favorite country to be constantly attacked and you wouldn’t have any way to defend yourself. The Japanese community is much smaller and quieter than the Russian, American or German ones, so it is more difficult for them to defend themselves. Only now, after more than 6 years, are the Japanese receiving ammunition other than HE for the Ki-102b, which is sad. The Japanese are stolen, they lack CAS planes, although they produced them in large numbers and variety, fighters are often outclassed, most bombers are scrap. That’s why I got so angry when I heard “weaken the Japanese.” I’m sorry I took it out on you

It turns just fine.
Yes, it’s no XP-55 or G.55 and it compresses a bit more over 650 IAS, but still, Spitfires won’t be outmaneuvering you at high speed, cause they compress around the same speed you do, and at a slightly higher speed Yak-3 already disassembles itself.

Japanese players are NOT good pilots. I would have noticed.
Their planes are the easiest to use. You can follow the most basic acelord instincts and just turn with everyone, and you’ll win most games.
Damn I played A7M2 like that and it worked like a charm. And when I played A7M2 I was generally CLUELESS.

620-640 IAS may not be that much, but 620 IAS at 3-4km is above what majority of prop aircraft will achieve outside of high speed dive around this BR
In both screenshots I’m pressing full elevator with mouse and keyboard controls while getting out of a dive.
9G at 675 IAS is not super good. But it very quickly turns into 12. And yeah F4U, P-51, Fw 190, La-7 may turn better for a fraction of a second, before your speed drops to 640 IAS and you pull 12G again around sea level.

All right. You can now drop your bomb and watch the Japanese fighters cease to exist. I hope you have fun killing fun with Japanese players. Goodbye to the beautiful Mitsubishi A6M and J2M, Kawasaki Ki-61 and Ki-100, Nakajima Ki-84 and Ki-43/44 and you sad cheated Kawanishi N1K, it was great playing with you. It’s time to become a boring American or German aviator.

Just tested G.55 S1 - going out of dive at 720, I NEVER achieved 12G, got 11G around 680 IAS. But hey, it pulled 10G above 700IAS while Zero rips its wings, so yay. And below 680 I was no longer turning better than A6M5 “notorious for its compressibility”.
Yeah, tell me, how am I supposed to fight A6M5 in G.55 other than running and forcing head-ons if I don’t have entire match to somehow work him out of energy due to my SUPERIOR high alt performance and then forcing him down, down, down?
Sounds fun for both parties involved?
Sure it does.

Ki-84 right now is kinda mid
Ki-44-II sits at 3.7 and slaps everything.
Ki-43 has a clown plane flight model.
N1K - can’t tell, haven’t try to do well in it. It’s probably at such a high BR due to nuke 20mm launchers.
J2M - can out-dogfight anything that’s not Japanese at 5.0 and below. I hate facing it cause it will slaughter me in a head-on if 1 shell lands, I can’t outclimb it, can’t outturn it, and outrunning is not a viable long-term tactic. At least it compresses so it can be reversed if J2M pilot is bad. Hell yeah, at least it has a weakness that can be exploited.

Only thing Japanese props have going for them is just turning, and most of the time you can outrun them.

I guess another good thing is them looking good.

Shoot them once and they’re on fire (ofc depending on plane), at least last time I played with props, which was a long time ago ngl.

I’ve already said it, I can repeat it. Have fun destroying the Japanese, give as many nerfs as possible so that nothing remains of Japan. I hope you enjoy Elon Gay’s flight full of nefs for Japan. But I’ll tell you one thing, the Japanese never give up. LONG LIVE THE EMPEROR .Me and my Reppu will never give up.

Shoot any other prop with Type 99 Mk 2 HEF round and he loses wing/engine/tail. And regarding these fires - I haven’t noticed Zeros being much easier to kill.

I kill quite a lot of props.

shot 2024.11.13 22.07.43

You mean american?

Almost every nation has some vehicles that alone can destroy everything in their BR range, nerfing Japan even more than it has already been nerfed is creating a nation that only exists as a decoration for the hangar

edit: props are the only thing unique to Japan, since almost all jets are Copy paste

Your reppu right now compresses way more than A6M5.
Japanese designed it to be faster and dive better, so of course it handles way worse at these new speeds it can reach. Makes total sense.

My most dream fighter is the A6M5 Hei, try playing it, you will see that it is 100% OP and annihilates everything it sees. Now seriously, have fun nerfing Japan

You’re not making any logical arguments, you’re just repeating your STATEMENTS, which are not arguments anyway.
So basically you like your A6M5 being slow as hell at 5.0, cause with these nuke launchers and “funny” FM it won’t be moving down any time soon.
Enjoy it, then.

Also Type 99 Mk2 fires shells at 750m/s.
Which means they are DAMN FAST considering how heavy they are and how good their ballistics are (they barely lose speed compared to other cannons)

Nerf will not lower the A6M fighters, it will only make them worse to play. Presumably they will nerf the Type 99 guns like they did with the Type 5 and Ho-155, or did they lower the br for the Kikka and R2Y2… No. So they will not lower the br of any of the zero fighters because their strength is maneuverability, not cannon. I once shot down 3 enemy planes with a zero, using Type 97 guns only. So the guns won’t change anything. Changing the strength will also not reduce the BR, because the main force will be zero. If they remove the zero return, it would be best to remove it immediately because it will not have any advantages.
Of course, the Type 99 model 2 cannon can be weakened to make it completely uncompetitive. Perfect plan, weaken one thing to make it completely outclassed. 20mm guns in War Thunder are strange, and not only the type 99 model 2. Sometimes one hit is enough to destroy the enemy, but you can also shoot 10 or more at the enemy fighter and it flies without any damage. The Type 99 model 2 cannon was created only to improve the maximum speed of the projectiles, so it would be better to remove it rather than weaken it to the level of the Type 99 model 1.

The same applies to the Kawanishi N1K, it is an interceptor. A weapon nerf won’t change its Br, and an engine nerf is a violation of historicity. Kawanishi is not properly represented in the game anyway.
Nerf Kawasaki Ki-61 makes no sense, Ho-104 is a good weapon, but much weaker than the competition’s 20 mm cannon. Almost all Ki-61s have the same medium engine, they just change their armament and become more and more overloaded. Nerf Ho-104 would be very destructive for this hunter, because it is his only effective weapon against 20mm guns.
The Nakajima Ki-44 was created as an interceptor, so historically it has performed very well. This is how you can weaken it, weaken its Ho-104 guns and make its engine worse, and what will be the result? Either it will be OP at a lower level again, or it will be unplayable.
The Nakajima Ki-84 in the game is the same fighter, only with different weapons, and it never changes the engine. A weapon nerf will either cause his br to drop and become OP again or be completely useless. You can also weaken his engine, but then it works the same.
The Mitsubishi J2M was designed as an interceptor with enormous firepower to destroy enemy bombers, but history forced it to become an air superiority fighter. The weapon nerf may be a slight reduction in BR for the J2M, but due to the high engine power it will not be a big change.

In fact, you keep repeating yourself, you haven’t presented any solution, you’re just pointing out problems. You didn’t propose anything in this thread on how to balance the Japanese planes. You only say that the A6M is OP because it can turn. The Type 99 is OP because it ripped off your wing. Ho-104 is OP because it is. Provide some solution, not just pointing out the problems. I can do that too. The Ju 87 is OP because it dropped a 1000 kg bomb on me, and the Japanese don’t have such a bomb, the Ju 87 needs to be removed from the game because it is OP.

I’ve been pointing out problems to show you A6M5 is not 5.0 because “Japanese players are better”, or because Gaijin hates Japan, but because, due to the design of A6M5 FM and armanent, it simply is annoying to fight against at any BR and it can only go down in BR, if it ever gets fixed.
Same applies to other Japanese aircraft that are not balanced or even can not get properly balanced.
I find A6M5 to be extremely funny reversal machine. Yes, I’ve been 3rd partied in my 1st match during 3rd reversal, but scored 5 kills in the 2nd and I’ll proceed to rack up killls just for lulz, the guns are insane anyway. I won’t be playing HEi, cause it trades maneuvrability for more guns, and it would do just fine with a single Type 99 Mk2, if it could be nose mounted somehow.

You on the other hand:
waaaah, waaaaaah, waaaah, nerf Japan, waaaaah, nerf it, you all hate Japan, waaaaaah, muh reppu, waaaaah.

This doesn’t answer my question. Give me any ideas on how to weaken the Japanese fighters. For now, you are doing two things: complaining about me and telling me what you don’t like about Japanese planes.

You seriously don’t understand it. That’s a bad player’s trait. You just don’t get how certain features ruin the game. You’ll just keep crying. And I’ll do my best to bump A6M5 to 5.3 because it’s essentialy unhittable (you won’t be pulling lead on that if A6M5 guy knows how to dodge and going over 600 IAS is not enough) and armed with twin 30mm with 100 RPG.

Now I honestly hope it really gets “nerfed” (instead of getting its armanent, compression and BR fixed) along with every other Japanese plane because your reaction will be absolute comedy gold.
