Must be unlucky, but every time I try to multipath I get killed or heavily damaged from fox3’s.
If I fly at ±50m above ground the missile will still intercept me close enough for the fuse to act in my vicinity.
If I fly lower I often get damaged from the ground hit anyway.
How do you guys still multipath? I only rely on notching or avoiding WEZ altogether.
Yeah multipathing above 50 meters has been very unreliable for me, when I do multipath on like a stock grind or something I aim for 40 meters, the faster you’re going also helps you a ton
At 30-40m I still get splash damage regularly, and if it is a phoenix / fakour that will 99% crit me so I never relied on multipathing after the 60m ceiling change.
Only time it works well is above water, and even then I got killed once while flying like 15m above sea level
You’re talking about fox3s too or fox1? Multipathing against fox1’s still work ok for me (except r-27er), only the top-tier missiles with IOG make me avoid multipathing altogether
Yeah only one phoenix has ever got me while I was multipathing with splash damage, that was because it was late game and I had just got done with a dogfight and was at like 400kph
Yep, that is my same experience. Never been killed by one, but did loose the tip of a wing from splash damage in the Tornado F3. Though new FM should make that a non-existant event now.
Just yesterday I got killed by an R-darter from like 60º to the side while flying in the 30-40m range at mach and some slight maneuvers without leaving the multipath ceiling, I was using the new radar altitude thingy to make sure of it. That was one of those times that I was like, screw it, lets see if multipath works for me and then all my control lines got blasted away from the explosion nearby, the missile exploded in the air close to me
If the missile comes down with a high enough angle, then it will hit you on the way to hitting an MP Target. So if the Gripen was way above you, then the R-Darter had a good chance of striking you.
MP I find it most effective when something is at the same alt as you when the missile is fired at you. Everything else, best to notch
R-Darter was known for being very floaty as far as Fox 3s go. So there is that. Dunno, if you went over a dip in the ground you might’ve come out of multipathing.
Only other thing is, is your altimeter Barometric or Radar?
Definetly a skill issue. The only things I had sympathy for struggling against Aim-54s were things without RWRs, they’ve long since been moved out of sight of the F-14s, so if you are still getting “destroyed” by Aim-54s, then I would suggest changing your playstyle or reading up on how to defend against an ARH missile
