Need help with the B25-J-20

I’ve been struggling to bomb with the B25, I keep trying to climb but I never make it high enough to escape any interceptors or fighters. does anyone have any advice?

My way of using the B-25 (and pretty much all light bombers) is to dive straight towards the base, drop ordinance, pull an Immelmann turn, and run towards allied fighters. Don’t dive too steeply because you risk breaking your wings and waste energy due to high speed drag. It’s been a long time since I’ve played the B-25, but I think a -10° dive should do. You should aim to be about 500~1000m above ground level by the time you reach the base, so that you can still gain a bit of speed from diving onto the deck when running back home. Using the Immelmann turn helps you turn more quickly since you’ll lose speed, which will reduce control surface lockup.

Don’t rely on your defensive turrets; the .50 cals aren’t effective against anything other than some lightly built Soviet and Japanese fighters. Don’t rely on altitude; the B-25’s climb rate is atrocious, so even fighters spawning from the airfield can easily climb up to you, let alone dedicated interceptors who also get air spawn.

Howdy!

When I play bombers (when I’m feeling like a masochist) I general do like what @TomLiu126 does. I spawn and go into a shallow dive towards the closest base, or whichever one I can call that’s closest. Once I bomb it turn back and go straight back to the AF. If I hit the deck before I make it to the base then I fly as low as possible and do the same as above.

Sometimes depending on the map I don’t fly straight to the base and do take a round about way to it to avoid enemy planes. Those maps would generally be larger ones I know flying straight to the base would be suicidal.

Also one key thing for the B25 or any bomber is to fly low enough that you don’t produce contrails. If you start producing them drop a little bit. Enemy planes can spot you from miles away.

And of course the last little bit of advice, this is more just for the hell of it. When you drop your bombs and you feel like just having a little trolly fun you can turn into fighter mode and obliterate everything with your .50 cals. Again you can do that with any bomber.

Hope this helps :)

If you still insist on flying a B-25:

I just came out of a match in which a B-25 performed quite good (4 kills and 2 assists) - but he played his ship as interceptor / turret fighter.

The best way to play the B-25 is to buy a Wyvern.

Immelman bleeds too much energy imo. A slow turn with steady speed will get most things behind you after rushing a base and get you atleast 1 kill consistenly. This depends on the map and the bomber though but as a JU-C*nt I love it.

DIve straight to base. If you have Wyverns go for ground targets
