Need help with russian pack vehicles

Hello guys, I bought the Su-39 and bmd3m in the Russia day pack. Since I already had the ka 50 and t 80ue1, the pack was offered for an decent price. (I wanted the bmd 3m)

So let’s unpack it.

Ka-50: This is vehicle I struggle with the most. I used it to grind an old BP achievement by helicopter rushing with 500kg bombs.

I just kept getting shot down by IR missiles, or machine guns of fighter jets.

I launch and guide the missiles from the helipad spawn (roughly 10km against targets) which is safe from ground SPAA, but during this guidance I kept getting machine gunned and the guidance time is really long.

It also lacks a radar meaning it’s hard to know when enemies are flying onto you.

It’s gotten so bad I’ve had greater success using the A-10A late with inferior maverick missiles by point n’ click fire and forget.

Su-39: To be fair, I never played this plane. But R-73 at 11.3 sounds amazing. I had decent experience playing the AMX A1A, with my missiles being flared being the biggest problem (piranha). How does it compare with the AMX?

T-80UE1: Seriously, the way I see it, is that it’s worse tank than NATO tanks but has better armor. I never found the brawling to work.

Whenever I play NATO tanks, Russian tanks can be dispatched in one shot or two. whereas in a Russian tank I may cripple a NATO tank but chances are he has commander overriding or I get a kill assist.

BMD-4M: I never played this too. But based on my experience in the 2S38, a slow light tank, this one should be able to penetrate virtually all tanks in game with the 9M119 missiles yes? Also how fast it is?

Nowadays, the wind is not in favor of helicopters, specially at higher battle rating and which missiles need guidance from the operator, staying still on the air makes you a easy target, try moving around, its easier in open maps, specially in the Ka-50 with good speed values.

T-80U-E1 shouldn’t be a problem, is basically what you’ll get at USSR battle rating 12.0, if you don’t like it, don’t waste your time researching the tech tree, simple as that. T-80U-E1 may not have the top round in Soviet cannons nor the best protection values but at this current battle rating doesn’t make it any useless or is generally a hard vehicle to play.

A simple comparison between the AMX A-1A and the Su-39 is agility, it’s a huge airplane, way to heavy for its own engines which makes it a easy target for anyone,

Try to keep distance and engaging from above, first try using the Kh-29TE TV-guided air-to-ground missiles, bring at least one pair of FAB-500M-62 to deal with multiple targets or four Kh-25ML laser guided air-to-ground missiles or sixteen or eight Vikhr air-to-ground anti-tank missiles, and consider, always, leaving the spot for the R-73 air-to-air missiles, if you will, R-60M should be helpful with slower targets, consider the Kopyo radar-pod instead of the Mercury pod.

Not unique to Ka-50. Leave MAW turned on and it should take care of any non-IRCCM missile by automatically popping CMs.

Against jets, just gotta keep aware. Keep looking for any radar pings on RWR not coming from the direction of ground units. But if the jet is smart and turns off the radar you just gotta listen.

Well theyre FnF. You dont have to babysit them.

One trick you can do is to lock the enemy incoming jet in autotrack and launch a vikhr.

Since it has proxy fuze you basically have sort of anti-air missile.

Ince you got the jet locked you can switch to 3rd person and do some evasion manuevers, but you gotta keep the enemy within your optics fov.

Also dont fire them in tailchase unless the plane is slow or low energy.

Lot of payload options. FnF missiles to take out SPAA and then switch to vikhrs to deal with any helicopters or tanks.

The BMD-4M was an excellent tank. Now, I’d say the opposite. Sure, you can still have fun playing it and even get some kills, but farming for a nuclear bomb has become much harder since the 30mm autocannon didn’t get new ammunition, and the 70 km/h speed limit gives you no advantage over wheeled tanks. On the other hand, I really liked the T-80UE-1. Yes, it’s not a Leopard 2A7, but it’s still a pretty interesting tank.
