Quite a few vessels that are simply too old for War Thunder and some odd BRs (three 4-inch guns at BR 5.0?), but a nice selection of ships for Denmark-Norway. I definitely think that Bjørgvin could work in the main tree too considering Gaijin’s stance on incomplete ships

Doe to me not knowing what to compare these vessels to the br’s and ranks are far from the way they should be

Some are quite old, but i believe most of the coastal battleships would work they way it is now, at lower brs and mabye spawns closer to the middle g the map?

Guess we might see this type of vessel in the future

I’m all for it, but:

  1. I would absolutely love to see it with 🇫🇮Finnish warships added into the 🇸🇪Swedish tree, just like 🇫🇮Fin vehicles are already in the 🇸🇪Swedish ground forces.
  2. BRs you propose seem to be all over the place. Tordenskjold at BR 2.7? A ship with 2 x 210mm, 6 x 120 mm and 6 x 76mm protected by up to 178 mm of armor fighting against Fairmiles and K-3 sub-chasers? This makes zero sense.
  3. shouldn’t your “RDN” ships actually have HDMS prefix?

That said: I would love to see how Monitors would behave in the game, and where would be the best spot to put them into. E.g. HDMS Gorm in its ultimate configuration (2x 150mm, 6x 87mm, 2x 76mm, 2x 57mm with 178mm belt @ 23.2km/h) would be such a bizarre vessel to balance. On one hand it’s not far off from AF D3 (2x 105mm, 1x 37mm, 2x quad 20mm, 2x 15mm with 40mm belt @ 22.1km/h), so BR 3.3, but on the other hand it’s both: so much more (primarily: armor) and so much less (primarily: low fire rate of the guns). But: No way in hell they should be at the BR 1.0 - I would throw it into BR 3.7 and see how it plays? This whole tree will be super-tricky to balance, which is why I absolutely love it!

Overall though this tree sounds exactly like what I would expect from Swedish (they really should rename it to Nordic) tree: Bizarre and amazing vehicles!

So i changed the tree a bit, i have not updated the suggestion tough, tought i’ll see if anyone have suggestions/ideas on how to improve it

it is quite hard to get the br, lineups and placements right here, ecpecially since this vessel type doesnt ecist in game yet

i removed some of the old and added newer ones i discovered

I’d personally recommend that you try to compare the ships, especially destroyers, with in-game equivalents. A lot of the destroyers are British types and we have similar ones in-game. The most powerful destroyer available here is likely the S-class in the form of Stord and Svenner, and even they shouldn’t be above rank 2 BR 4.3 in my opinion. Even the weakest of the coastal defence ships meanwhile have multiple heavy guns and none of them should be below high rank 2 at least, and I’d say most likely fit around rank 3, but not even the Bjørgvin-class should go to rank 5. Basically I’d say you probably want to switch the destroyers and CDs around in your tree. You could also condsider giving Denmark a bit more space, I definitely think there could be a tech tree configuration of Niels Juel as well and they also had Type II Hunt destroyers just like Norway. Below is my own mockup of what a Danish-Norwegian-Finnish line in the Swedish bluewater tree could look like, with Norway in blue and Denmark in red, yellow section being premium ships. It’s a bit compressed, I’ve had to omit some ships and not specified variants to fit everything but I think it gives some idea

Personally i think and always will that Sweden should just be a hub for scandinavia, this way we have better Lineup potential across the board.

We have a Norwegian in the form of a Leopard 2a5, finland as a subtree.

We don’t have a Norwegian Leopard 2A4NO yet, but it could always be added alongside the others, as it among other things has acess to a Norwegian shell

I am going over the vessels and researching them to among other things find additional information and the exact weapons used. So far i have found a lot, and many of the vessels has at some point gone trough a major refit, wich will lead to a separate vessel, like the HNoMS Sleipner for example that was originally armed with 3x 105mm L/40 bofors, 1x 40mm L/60 Bofors, 2x 12.7mm colt MG/52 etc were sailed over to Britain after a while of combat and hiding in Norway, and it was there equipped 2x 20mm Oerlikons in addition to the 40mm bofors, those took the place of 1x of the old 105mm L/40 bofors cannons. The other 2 105mm bofors were swapped out with ex British 4"/45 (10.2cm) QF MK.V Cannons that were old anti air cannons taken from some of the british battleships/cruisers in the 1930’s when they were upgraded.

Many situations like this, in addition to german modifications, some wich of were in Norwegian service with those.

Biggest issue will be the BR ratings, as i am not good at that. Those old Norwegian destroyers were small and light

Good idea, but when I think about Iceland I saw only this in Reykjavík once, and it’s unarmed.

ICGV Freyja

btw, it’s very nice inside, it’s worth a look when the ship has docked and opens for tourists.

ICGV Týr would be a good addition for this tree

Cool ships, but why not add these to the swedish techtree?

Some of them were armed :) but the newest ones, i doubt those would have any place in game, considering their large size and only having one 40 or 47mm bofors cannon as armament, So i believe the best place would be the coastal part for those who have acceptable size in relation to armament

I haven’t had time yet to fully dive into the Icelandic coastal vessels, as many of the vessels they have been used, has been renamed after each other wich makes everything 10x harder haha

Well, there are many reasons haha

There are plenty of vessels from Norway, Denmark and Iceland to make two wide naval techtrees, and Sweden/Finland are in the same position with just as many vessels, combining those would be a problem, yes, even if only adding the “good” stuff xd that goes for all branches.

Splitting up the techtrees would have many advantages, there would also be an advantage regarding the extra work required to create more than 5 lines in one techtree. And the grind would become easyer, as you would not have as many to grind trough to reach higher tiers, kind of having a choise, if you are not interested in the ndi vehicles, and are only interested in the swed/fin vessels and want to only grind those, you can do that or vice versa. overall easyer grind.

More content to the game, vehicles etc, events and battlepasses maps and much else, premiums…is an advantage for the company. Eliminate some conflicts with who gets what from all the Nordic nations, for example if there is one vessel/vehicle that is relatively similar or there is a tight space

etc

Good to know thanks, all I can say about the ICGV Týr is, that this ship operates also over 700km away from Iceland and it even rams British fishing vessels when they refuse to leave Icelandic waters.

hehe, they have a long history of fisheries supervision, such as the great cod war 1958-1976 :D

With BRs and tiers, you really wanna put pretty much all the destroyers at rank 1 or 2 with a BR no higher than 4.3. Norway and Denmark don’t have any destroyers equivalent to rank 3 ones like the Bravy or Somers. No coastal defence ship should be below rank 3 on the other hand, they are comparable to cruisers currently in-game, trading speed for heavier guns and armor

I hadn’t noticed this earlier, but is Olav Tryggvason not in the tree? Am I blind or why not? Would be neat to see the planned 1917 design of Niels Juel as top tier btw. It could be considered as an incomplete ship like those already in-game. She and Bjørgvin would be the most powerful option available to den/nor

Yes hehe, i have looked and haven’t seen a single destroyer below 1.000 tons, wich none but the Ålesund class is.

Considering HNoMS Frøya and HNoMS Olav Tryggvason are minelayers, i have added them to the coastal part, but they are both heavier, and larger than both the Sleipner and Draug class destroyers (I have also never seen a minelayer in the Bluewater tree) but then those two are kinda “unique/strange” in their design? but thinking of it, i think i am going to add them here, they are basically destroyers afterall xd

I have began workin on it again, but i need to go trough some of the vessels, as with acess to new sources, i have managed to find some differences on the vessels, such as refits, updgrades etc, for example one where Sleipner in britaing got all the 105mm guns swapped out with ex british cannons and better aa armament
