Navy research rewards

So… over 100 battles for a 5.7 ship???

I mean yeah I’m not the best player in the world and the ship I used here only had HE rounds (I think I still sunk 3 enemies though) but come on friends… Over 100 battles? For one ship? WUT?

Ya a couple patches ago Naval ws nerfed into the ground for RP/SL. On the bright side…New orleans isnt “bad” and a total step up from the NorthCrapton. But if youre not making enough points in realistic or the games are going to fast to score any points try arcade sometimes i can get up to 5-10k research depending. (also When you get AP you can fight other Cruisers making it a little easier to rack up some Damage for more RP)

Naval is only useful for grinding SL, any actual game progression is purely coincidental. Because… Gaijin can’t let you actually enjoy any mode of its game.

they gotta make the grind AS long as possible so you can finally get the vehicle you want and find out its absolutely terrible.

And why have you hidden your score? Since you got no prizes I can only assume it was pretty bad so 1100 RP for that isnt suprising.

I just moused over the ship I’m researching and that covered the score.

I agree with you though it’s prob not great but you’re missing the point. I got 1st in the team and still less than 1K RP making it take over 100 matches to research a single ship. That’s crap no matter who you are and while I certainly agree that a higher score should def. make for fewer games… We shouldn’t be starting at 100 for a game where someone placed first in that game.

That’s ridiculous. I get that I could have Prem time (I generally do) and I could be playing the ship that gives a bonus to researching this one, but… Those couple things wouldn’t put a huge dent in the games it would take to research a single ship. Maybe it would reduce it to 50? 50… For one ship and the cost is I can’t play the ship I want to? I mean… that’s bad game design. No other way to put it.

Unfortunately as a F2P game, the economy is balanced around at a minimum premium time, but also quite often premiums or talismanned vehicles. So the Economy isnt great for most gamemodes. That being said. I actually find bluewater naval one of the more reasonable grinds in game with them going from best to worst

  • Air
  • Bluewater
  • Ground
  • Heli
  • Coastal
A match I had fairly recently (premium time + Premium ship + 500% SL booster)

But I think the issue with naval (both coastal and bluewater, but coastal mostly) is that quite often matches are padded out with Gaijin-bots that when killed reward around 1/4 what a player kill will reward. So this hampers the amount of SL/RP you should be getting

But based upon the amount of both RP and SLs you got, I assume you did not get that many kills or base captures and you also lost the match which has an impact. Also dont forget about research effeciency (using the previous ship in line gives 10% more RP, but also using ships of a too low a rank will reward a lot less RP) which might be a factor to consider.

My recommendation for naval is to just play it, learn different ships and learn the gamemode, worry about grinding the tree later (trust me, the BBs are pretty badly compressed and not all that fun at the moment, whilst some heavies are worth it, the most fun in my opinion can be found with destroyers and light cruisers usually)

Also, spade ships you’ve got already. Not only is this a good way to pass the time, you also get the spade bonus for unlocking all the modifications. That is no small amount

How did you actually manage that little RP? Too bad we can’t tell because literally none of the match stats are visible…

Probably only a few assists.

Coastal is just miserable right now. Even low tier. 5 min+ queue times. Super compressed BRs where WWII gun boats have to face Cold War frigates. Which are being driven by the couple of salty high level clubbers that ah… club you while you are trying to wade thru all the bots.
A couple times a month I try to put in some coastal grind but its always the above and I’ve have enough after a few games.

No premium, so yeah - twice as long as if you had premium.

The game doesn’t exist without people paying money for bits of it.

Don’t play coastal only at anything above 3.3 - always mix higher level coastal with DD’s so you can go toe-toe if you have to.

1st place means nothing, if your team did very poorly as well. You also lost the round which further decreases the score.

If you want to make a point show us your damage amount.

This is still in the 2. somethings…

If you are playing 2.7 then I think the only frigates up to 3.7 are the Japanese ones with the automatic 3" guns - sure they will wreck you - but so will other coastals at 3.7 - as will generally anything 1.0 above you in any game mode…

So that’s not really a “problem” with the coastal fleet - it is a problem with being bottom tier, which is universal!

Chikugo and others are at 3.3. That is what the guy used to mop the floor with our entire team.

Its a problem because of the universal bad game matching design in WT. Coastal just happens to be the worst because of BR compression and small playerbase allows SIM like shenanigans.

In full uptier mbts are and should be easily overpowered by frigates. The whole point of the frigates is to clean coastals. Now, frigates can be easily dealt with by destroyers. Seems then like your destroyers (and frigates) did nothing which allowed chikugo to mop the mbts. Team based games are about teamplay after all.

What is the point of this story about coastals in the topic of bluwater rewards?

It was a pure coastal game. This topic is about (lackof) naval rewards, not just bluewater.

Then nobody brought a destroyer which is also a shot in the foot as Joseph already pointed out.

The topic is about op’s dissatisfaction with lack of reward after their low score battle. You started about coastal compression so not really in the right place.

The comment was in regards to @Morvran_(Profile - Morvran - War Thunder — official forum) 's “misery index” of game modes.

Yes and the inability to finish a game because of poor matchmaking leads to rather disappointing rewards and low score.

You don’t get to dicktate what gets posted in a thread. And take your own advice and not derail the thread doing so.

Rewards are based on your and your teams performence, if team doesn’t perform well for whatever reason, rewards will be poor, it is both your and op’s case.

“no u are derailing” lol
