what should my modification order look like on a new ship?
Britain has some very good Destroyers and Light Cruisers. A little lacking in actual heavy cruisers though, as they are basically just light cruisers with 8" guns instead of 6" guns. Usable, and can be fun, but not the strongest.
Dreadnoughts can be a little hit and miss, some are good, some arent, but that I think is fairly standard accross most of the trees.
Top tier… it would be fine if not the uptiers vs the soviet super ship which renders them all basically useless. But so long as you arent fully uptiered, they are pretty decent.
always (S)AP ASAP, then the standard parts and FPE. And after that bolster what you feel is weak.
Feel slow? Get engine upgrades
Turrets slow? Get turret upgrades
And so on.
As for crew skills.
Main callibre reload
The repair skills (of which I’d prioritize fire fighting)
Crew interchangeability
That commander skill that buffs other skills, forgot the name
And expert if feasable.
Another reason to not buy a premium BB. Stock crews are painful for naval.
There is also the Krispy Kreme cruiser as well. And actually went on the wiki for this… the Krasny Krym
depends…
Italy, waste of time after 5.3.
Usa, jack of all trades master of none, and weak ammoracks = pain. Good top tier.
Early soviets, ok but weak ammos, but 5.7 and onwards those are quite good, lacks of speed. Best 8.7 ( remember firefighting skill, those soviet ships burns like crackers.)
French… Well you gotta be somewhat sadistic to enjoy those. Low tier coastal is fine. (amiens, arras etc)
Japan, those got real guns especially on mid tier, best firepower on 6.0 -7.7 range. bonus from historical aspect.
Brits no comments.
Germany. Not bad, not good. But there is scharnhorst in 7.3 what is absolutely busted. (grinding germany atm )
Hello there MB,
So, you’re thinking of dipping your toes into the water eh? Are you going to be playing Arcade or Realistic? There is a HUGE difference between the two.
Were you going to be a Puddle Pirate or dive into the Deep Water? Or were you planning on doing both? Knowing these answers will help us to answer your question more thoroughly my friend.
It may be a bit dated, but this 9:21min War Thunder NAVAL Tutorial ⚓ still has a metric ton of useful info as well as being entertaining. You would be surprised at how much even the veteran players are not using basic settings.
I look forward to seeing you out there and to reading your reply. Until then, I would suggest that you take several vessels out for a test drive. Hopefully you will get a feel for what catches your interest. Let us know what you decide on my friend! o7
In a world of pure gunships it would have been, but it served a war that saw the rise of carrier battles. Its anti-air armament was pretty bad, so it got eaten alive by the american naval aviation in the first big engagement it saw
