Naval mode is finally dead

Im managing similar its just getting annoying having to play something simply to survive for more than 3 seconds against them

I guess I just have a different experience. I’m not afraid of any player 3.3 DD in either a Surprise or a Spey. One-on-one I will win that fight nearly every time, and if I lose it WAS a skill issue.

Yes, against 4.3 DDs I will generally lose. In a game where there’s not a matching 4.3 on my side, yep, that is a real tactical problem.

On the other hand, if 3.3 is top-tier in a match I wreck. Net those two boats have been pulling a 4:1 K/d, I just feel silly complaining about that.

I get it that that DOES sound like further decompression is needed, but specifically in the case of the Spey/Surprise its current place in the ecosystem doesn’t really bother me as much as some other things. 3.3 against a DD is a fair fight til one of our friends shows up, same as same-BR planes, same as tanks. Putting it in the boat spawn would not be a positive move to my mind, for instance; I think that would be a little silly. But yeah, continuing to broaden the BR range if it can be done without increasing queue time and/or reducing the player/bot ratio in NRB even further wouldn’t hurt, sure.

No wonder naval is struggling. I played two battles with a French 7.3 ship I got from the last crates. After just two battles I’m up 66,000 SL. In practice, this ship will never pay for itself because the Expert qualification costs around a million (±200,000). The earnings were supposed to be really good, but they aren’t.

This is the voice of a noob who wanted to try something new, but neither the earnings nor the gameplay are impressive.

The earnings part mainly applies to premium ships

Same with rp (even worse given you need every single ship in most tech trees no matter how boring or copy paste they are) there is no point in grinding naval
Feels very similar to the heli situation

Problem with Surprise/Spey is that sure, in skilled hands they’re good, but in skilled hands almost any reserve DD is better. You have worse guns, worse speed, a more fragile hull, and you sit at the same BR with the same far-out-uncovered spawn… For what gain? A few 20mm AA guns? A proxy fuse shell?

How well did you do overall?

I’m not gonna lie that i am getting a bit annoyed by the stupid mission score system in Naval.
People can literally have less than half your Damage to Naval targets and still get more “Damage to the enemy” points for mission score so that youre essentially getting punished for one shotting vehicles for whatever reason.

Ironically, this update is DOA because of the amount of naval crap

…Dang, if only all naval damage models were like that. CAS has become much more common and annoying recently…

Load up the VTF.

I would if my poor PT boats and WW1-interwar vessels had it…

my main issue is still the lack of an option to be put into a match within 30 seconds of matchmaking even if it is entirely bots. Air has the smaller match option, and ground has the night matches option. Naval is either waiting a minute to be put into the bot matches I want, or 5 minutes just to get into the only match that has somehow assembled every single player in matchmaking. Being able to get into the low population matches at any time instead of waiting for server dead hours would be nice.

Yeah its based on RNG on whether the ammo rack explodes or not. Even the ammo elevator fire spreading to ammo thing is RNG based.

Is it just me, or has anyone else been experiencing severely desynced gunfire hits where your shots clearly land on an enemy boat, yet there is no hit registration or visible damage? I feel like the issue has gotten noticeably worse since the introduction of the simplified AB aiming system.

This is especially noticeable in coastal boat versus coastal boat engagements. Here’s some footage by me as an example. This occurred on my local server with a ping of around 40 ms.

As you can see, the Bofors guns on my LCS(L)(3) are clearly landing hits, yet they inflict no damage or cue no hit indicators. The hitcam not updating confirmed that no damage was being registered on the S-38b.

This is my PoV. The server replay replicates 99.99% exactly what I saw and where I was aiming.

Here’s another clip using the sensor view so you can more clearly see where the shots are landing.

I wasted my backup card on this for nothing. Thanks, Gaijin.

5 mins?

I usually have to wait around 10-20 mins for a match.

I turn on the join already active battle option when playing Naval , doesn’t take that much time , max it would take 3-5min

I despise doing that, for the reason of PT boat cappers.

People who go straight for the caps in PT boats literally ruin naval

They turn a potentially good match into a 3-4 mins quick match… the ticket tick down is so fast for no reason, and most of the time if your in a blue water ship, your screwed. Therefore, I don’t do it.

I agree, same with the hydroplanes
