Also the new faster Time to Die means you can when playing coastal not even make off the spawn three times in row, and be out of boats in less then 2 mins, but if you did manage to get a kill or two and have enough points spawn plane… but since you know you will be killed in an instant you instead ESC out, you get penalized with crew lock.
Why force us to spawn a useless plane that can’t survive more then a few secs?
You played absolutely dumb, sailing right at the enemy 3 times and dying, what you expected, that nothing to do with the changes, before them you would die the same if you do the same
Also in that game, was dealing with a congested spawn, torps on the spawn, and a spawn that is in LOS of the enemy spawn. Which still ignores my point that since planes are near useless we should not be crew locked for declining a kamikaze mission. People are sure right about your gaslighting.
His commitment is understandable. In the previous aiming system, where players actually had to use their skills to aim, he wasn’t a good player. In this new system, where aiming is automatic (players don’t have much to learn), and where many good players stopped playing, he is achieving very good results.
It’s especially visible, when you look at the scoreboards he shows on the forum. He can get great number of kills, because killing is really not hard when you don’t have to learn how to aim and your enemies are mostly AI bots. With the old system, killing AI bots still required a knowledge how to aim. With the new system, you just point at their ammo racks and hold the left mouse button.
Some people enjoy PVE and I don’t see a problem with that. The only question is whether it will be good for the game. Almost empty servers, almost empty battles, players killing AI bots, at least for now this is how the future of the Naval Arcade game mode looks like.
It’s also strange that so many people don’t understand why the devs decided to make AI bots stronger. This is a natural consequence of the fact that fewer and fewer players are playing Naval. The devs have their goals with how quickly players can progress in the tech tree (they admit it in their Q&A). With more AI bots in battles, the AI bots have to become stronger, so players suddenly won’t be getting much more RP/SL in battles.
There is a very high chance that AI bots will be buffed many more times in the future. They will always be bad of course, but at last e.g. their survivability can be increased (to slow down players progress). If you look how Assasult or Helicoper PVE game modes look right now, you will understand that the devs don’t want PVE to become a quick and easy way to research everything. And they noticed that Naval is slowly changing to PVE mode, that’s the reason why you see so many AI bots improvements.
My only real problem with the new bot difficulty is that they get artificially enhanced shell velocity. It leaves very little room to dodge most of their fire, assuming the shells even show up or have an arc at all.
There’s also little counterplay to them shooting you outside of killing them, and they will start shooting you again once they respawn. This leads to situations where 4+ bots are all constantly shelling a player, which is a massive detriment if you are trying to duel another player or just a massive annoyance/problem.
Personally Id say overhauling their target selection and shell velocities would clear up a lot of issues. AA too, but that’s been made abundantly clear.
Is that I got second place popping players in coastal in my premium destroyer from my spawn to theirs, and I was ALT-TAB’d half the time to write this post.
…lol… yes. There is “skill based” gameplay in these Naval Aim changes.
For the love of gahd. If they’d just add the freaking aim markers back, that would be at least SOMETHING. There’s NO WAY to know WHERE YOUR GUNS are AIMING. …and I guess it doesn’t matter because you don’t actually aim but how the hell am I supposed to know HOW THIS SYSTEM WORKS if I can’t even see how the guns train and move?
This is what I talked about a few times before. The number of AI bots in battles after the update is just crazy. And we have Saturday evening right now! When I played (before the aiming system change) I didn’t see AI bots on weekends and evenings. After the update I played a few battles and they were all full of AI bots. I don’t play Naval nowadays, but I still see this on other players screenshots.
BTW: If someone doesn’t know, AI bots are vessels with simple names, without squadron, without squad, with no score and no damage. So the battle FuegoTigre showed above had just 14 players and 18 AI bots. More AI bots than players in Saturday evening. That’s just crazy.
Point cursor at boat, hold down left button. Make sure you’re just serpentining all the time. [yawn] Without the cursors, you can’t understand HOW to be MORE Effective. When the enemy is ALSO evading, how do I train my shots to where I know they’ll be in 14seconds? It’s not possible anymore, where before it was.
Dropped 5.0. I was uptiered to 5.7. It’s a little fuller. Which makes sense. This update is all about Blue Water play being click-and-hit. And that’s going to make the biggest of boats the most attractive.
What if they leave this BS aim mode for Heavy Cruisers UP, and let coastals and DDs be the aim mode we had Pre-Hornets?
BB gameplay was ALWAY boring AF. So they’re not going to notice. Make small boats and DDs harder for them to see. The rest of us can have fun in skill based gameplay. BB players can sit in spawns and rail on one another.
Played a round of realistic and I remembered why I wasn’t so fun of it but again I prefer the old aiming system . It also shows 100% that all the maps are build for it and that coastials can play and actually affect the game.
My 7 year old wanted a try, she didn’t knew how to move so she was kinda struck at spawn.
I think I am gonna let her grid the rest of the French fleet, lol
It’s not fun with battleships or cruisers either, as it’s harder to dodge fire in duels with slower ships and harder to judge aim during enemy ship’s turns or manouvers at ranges, which punishes you with the longer reloads. Let alone everyone just aiming for turrets without any thought required (outside of the aiming system being trash and not hitting the right spot).
Sorry for sidetracking but I haven’t played naval in a good while and now that I played it again I noticed that the effectiveness of SAP and AP shells reversed. Last time I played AP did some minimal damage while SAP was knocking stuff out when I use heavy cruisers, what changed exactly?
Ah. I figured with the slower speeds and manuverability, the affect was minimized but I’m sorry you’re feeling it too.
That’s what’s most frustrating about all this. We aren’t allowed to play smart. And we aren’t given the tools to even try.
We’re supposed to be happy with this click-and-hold idle wargaming gameplay. And it is FAR from satisfying. It makes the game BORING.
Yeah. His involvement is disappointing. He seems bent to be the one-man-band of dismissal. Attempting to sabotage the validity of our concerns and complaints. Even going so far to belittle us.
[shrugs] What can we do?
I, for one, and glad to hear OTHER’S describe their frustrations, thoughts and concerns.
It is validating
It helps us identify the issues, present the WHYS, and hopefully raise awareness.
This. Gameplay Change Sucks. It’s bad for the game. And I hope the Devs see that soon. Sooner than later at least.
