I’m not sure if the intention is a deliberate change but the ammo count is wrong on the ship selection screen. For some reason it shows the amount of shots you can take rather than how much actual ammo is in storage. The ammo is displayed correctly ingame. This is a really confusing change if deliberate. I’ve tested this on multiple ships.
Screenshots as proof…

I guess they decided to simplify the selection slider to make it represent the number of broadsides you could fire. So on the HMS Renown, previously the counter would jump in increments of 6, whereas now each single count would represent an increase of 6 rounds. There’s no actual change in the number of shells that can be carried (in the past you couldn’t carry a number of shells that’s not divisible by the number of guns anyway). Not a really necessary change IMHO, but hey the devs gotta spend their time doing something ;)
Yes, I agree it’s unnecessary and just plain confusing especially for us players who have been playing for a long time. If they added an option to keep it as it was like they did with the damage controls I wouldn’t complain so much, having it as a choice is fair enough…
I noticed the numbers differed between the selection data and game number, and came to the same conclusion that its a totally unnecessary and confusing change.
Theres also a bug I’ve noticed that some ships/boats have their full ammo load defaulting to the first selected option. Some are unaffected, but if it occurs you enter battle with only one ammo typebso make sure you check before entering battle, or alternatively you can set it on the test sail screen.
