Naval After Next Update

If Gaijin adds the top battleship next update, given the hint from the community update, Germany will essentially go from strongest naval top tier to weakest. Germany does not historically have competent ships when you look at ships like Iowa or Yamato. Gaijin said something about 10% completion for ships to be added, and Germany’s H class battleships were only blueprint. While Russia can get Pr.23 Sovetsky Soyuz class which was more than 10% completed, the best ship Germany can offer is Bismarck class and those are supremely outmatched by every other country, USA has Iowa, UK has Lion, USSR has Pr.23, France has Richelieu, Italy has Littorio, all these ships outmatch Bismarck

AFAIK, I think I heard that even Yamato’s 18-inch can’t penetrate Scharnhorst’s Citadel part in the current penetration calculation system.

And if we think about ships which are labelled as ‘project’, like SMS Sachsen, Ersatz Yorck, and Z46/47.
There might be some ‘project’ ships which will be added on the German side too, I guess.

So long as you stay away from Fairey Swordfish, Bismark will do fine.

Bismark will be a fraction behind everyone else compared to what its been like fighting Scharnhorst over the past 3 years

Are these really on par with an H-class, Yamato, or Sovetsky Soyuz, though? You’d need to be talking about the Montana-class or modernized WWII battleships for Great Britain. The Bismarck (going off of light165neptune’s thread) has the same armor scheme of the Scharnhorst, so it’ll do just fine.

Worst comes to worst there are literally nuke shells for the Iowa class. USN ult?

The worst is going to be Italy, since it doesn’t have laid down projects left and Littorio will suck against Yamato, Iowa and never built ships + it will surely be nerfed in one way or another by Gaijin.
The only hope is that some weird proposal for not completed Impero of the same Littorio class will be found.

They might just have to leave Italy with a lower BR top ship

I want to see them get UP.41 IDC that it’s paper and we have no gun data. Just scale it off their nutty 15” gun.

And if it dominates. Well at least it’s not a big 3 nation.

Considering 2 of the h39s were actually started they could actually be addes

They will be added likely as a pair like Bismarck and Tirpitz

Lion has a 15” belt and depending on the refit super heavy shells and supercharges and extended length projectiles and a 20 second reload and up to 12 guns.

Also several book sources suggest British BBs from KGV onwards have 15-25% higher effective thickness than US Class A battleship armour.

Sounds like nothing a few Exocets can’t fix

Yes they do…

Spoiler

“Select shell 4 to win”

Vanguards deck will resist 1,000lb AP bomb dropped from 14,000ft her secondary armament will resist 500lb SAP bomb under the same conditions. Exocet warhead weighs 364lbs, harpoon warhead weighs 488lbs. Albeit Vanguard has some of the best deck protection if not the best when considering armour quality which is the issue on Yamato. But you won’t even go through the thinnest part of the armour maybe the citadel and grief AA, let alone the main or upper belt.

H-39 was laid down though? The main criteria for a ship to be added in WT (project or not) is for it to at least be laid down.

oh

I don’t understand your concerns. They never cared about keeping all nations competitive.

At least with the 10% rule Germany can have an aircraft carrier.

i sincerely doubt we’re jumping into the last generation of battleships this soon, but this is Gaijin and i doubt they learned much from adding Scharnhorst when they did

H-39 and H-40 (a H-39 repeat/sister ship)were both laid down yes. The only reason people in the WT community have hatred of them as a concept is because Gaijins game mechanics gives German ships an artificially inflated amount of survivability.

Yea modern munitions have virtually no real effect on ships of this era. There’s been some vague suggestions from Naval Analysts that we may see a resurgence in armour going forwards as ASHMs enter the hypersonic and carrier killing era.
