I would like to suggest changes to the Naval AI-AA and second battery changes and there overall engagement range, and also on the player AI-AA and second batterys.
Arcade Mode
I switched a couple of weeks ago into Arcade mode, just to test it out, and goodness how much for fun, it actually is compared to RB mode.
Here i can atleast somewhat enjoy Torpedo Boats, those are such a joy using them against even the biggest battleships, especially when you get a kill.
Problem with all of it is the AI-secondary from the Bots and also from the player ships.
Some Torpedo Boats like the Bolshevik need to get close to 4 kilometers to a ship, before they can launch there torps. And that is almoast always in the killzone of the AI Bots and player AI secondarys.
It is almoast impossible, to even evade a shot from the secondarys, because you lose so much speed in a turning manouver that you are almoast dead.
Suggestion
Range of the Bots main and secondary guns, should be drastically reduced, against Torpedo Boats.
Also a drastic range reduce for Bot ships AA, i already was killed multiple times, by a T22 i think its a destroyer? from 17…Kilometers!!! that is just hillarious guys, and yes was trying to evade him still was hit in my plane.
For Player controlled ships, we should remove AI controle completly!
Why is that? and how to achieve?
Pretty simple, because it is just OP!!! warthunder has so manny wonderfull planes and Torpedo bombers, that literally? no one uses them in Naval, why? because almoast nobody is crazy enough!
Achieving a Torpedo Kill on a enemy battleship with a US AM-1 Mauler is just awesome!
I can count down on 1 hand, how manny times i have been killed by a player while controlling a battleship its not that much.
Solution
Deactivated AI controle for secondary and AA guns “only” on Battleships, give these players a indicator like in this screenshot here
For the AA solution on battleships, as seen in the screenshot, players now get a symbole that an enemy plane is approaching from XY position, with the distance to it.
Now you as the player have to react, and choose your AA guns, to intercept.Plus you get a lead indicator like in plane Arade mode, so you can choose Time fuze rounds and start engaging the plane.
When switching back to your main guns in firing mode, you reticle stays on the target, that you had been locked on like the enemy ship. Also you will see, how long it takes for your main guns to reload, while you are using your AA guns against a plane, so you can switch over fast enough.
Only Destroyers,Cruisers, and frigates or sub chasers, should have AI mode enabled for AA gunners so they can support the battleships and protect them from planes.
A reduction in spawn points for planes, also could be a possibility, also for the second plane.
Currently only 1 plane can be spawned with 650 points, but the second one already costs 1300, nearly no one achieves that amount of points to spawn in a second plane.
Submarines concerns about balancing
So for subs even if we still dont have them, i am concerned about how we gonna counter them? because a subs counter is a sub chaser, frigate, destroyer. But those ships are getting annihilated left and right, as soon as they spawn in the round by AI secondarys and players AI secondarys.
In reality it almoast will not be possible, to counter submarines properly, because there counter ships will always be cannon fodder in Naval Blue Water mode.
“Suggestion” in Arcade would be those ships do not get a marker, like above the vessel itself, and could (maybe) slip trough the lines. They also get shot way less by the AI, and could get a over penetration “buff” if using AP rounds against them.Or get in generell a mobility buff slightly in speed and a bigger one in manouverability.
Otherwise i truly cant see, how we actually could balance this out properly.Currently when i spawn in the Russian Bravy 5.3 Destroyer, i maybe survive like 8-10 seconds, before i am battered so hard, that i barely could do anything except pointing my useless 130mm guns at someone where i know i cant do anything against that target.
