Here’s hoping the coming update has some actual content for the French Bluewater tree, everything since La Royale has been copy pasta and pack premiums that came back as GE premiums

What France needs is the coastal tree.

it really doesnt,
coastal is funny but its main function in the game is to occupy 3 entire BRs when bluewater is ridiculously compressed, whilst having a playercount thats a tiny margin of the already very small naval playerbase
the gap from the worst capital ships to the ones that dominate top tier is about as large as the gap from funny speedboat #1 to funny speedboat #2

It really does. Especially on arcade which is more played mode, coastal vessels serve their purpose. They can cap, ambush and disable much bigger ships while being relatively safe from their fire, some are great in SPAA duty or can reliably counter other coastals. The fact people dont play them as much is unrelated. If they don’t want to have full lineups it is their choice, but people should have an ability to choose.

that barely justifies the fact that it hogs HALF the available BRs and has an enormous negative impact on the balancing, when all it does is be a mild nuisance to bluewater players

We don’t care. Gib dev blog

bluewater could start no problem on 1.0, together with coastal. The 3.3 is indeed a bad choice but not adding coastal wont solve this problem. It’s illogical to blame design problems on a branch of vehicles that also suffers from said problems. And again, coastal played well is valueable part of the team, if you don’t know how to use it, it is not the topic here.

if a reserve DD is 1.0, or even 2.0, what BR would frigates be? right now they live around reserve bluewater BRs, but if those go down the frigates would have to go down as well, further increasing the balance issues that coastal has

now i cant speak for arcade, but it would probably kill most of coastal in RB
however, i’d happily make that sacrifice

RB is a dead mode anyway so wouldnt make a diffrence. In AB it would benefit both sides, so why not?
