I don’t know if it should be this way but everytime my ammo gets shot out and starts to cook off, it forces me to use fire extinguisher to prevent my crew from dying despite the ammo feed being completly separated from the crew compartment, is ths a bug or does this really happen? Im just getting so fed up with the BMPT’s constantly making me uncapable of doing anything and basically slowly cooking me alive.

I mean a tank is a small space to be in, if your ammo detonates or gets shot out of course its going to damage some crew. Whether that’s via immediate contact or the fire spreading. Just leaving the fire will kill your crew its simple.
yes the ammo is still on top but that’s going to spread downwards or suffocate the crew
