It’s operating a similar system of ERA placement like the T-80BVM (high angle ERA for better force displacement) and an overlapping rubber screen to preset charges.

The images you have are of the Karkas-I kit with 4S20 inserts but the modern version, Karkas-II, uses 4S24 inserts. Other than the inserts they’re pretty much the same, same canisters, cage armor, etc., minus the flaps around the turret. Also only late-variants of the BMP-3 with the Sodema sight have been seen with the Karkas-II kit.
