Nakajima G5N2 (中島 深山改)
The Nakajima G5N2 is a Japanese prototype bomber produced between 1941 and 1943. Four prototypes of the G5N2 were built, which in the second half of 1943 were converted into Nakajima G5N2-L transport planes.
History
In April 1941, the prototype G5N1 was equipped with a Mitsubishi MK4B Kasei 12 engine, which was a temporary solution while waiting for deliveries of the more powerful Nakajima NK7A Mamori 11 engine. During test flights, the Japanese discovered that the prototype G5N1 was overloaded (by 20% compared to the design), and its performance in the air was disappointing. After the first G5N1 prototype, the second prototype also used the Mitsubishi MK4B Kasei 12 engine. However, in the second quarter of 1941, production of the Nakajima NK7A Mamori 11 engine began, and the next G5N bomber prototypes were equipped with it. The planes with the Nakajima engine turned out to be disappointing, not significantly improving the aircraft’s performance. The Nakajima G5N with Mamori 11 engines were named Miyama Kai (深山改) or G5N2, and four of these planes were built. They were used for testing and development purposes until mid-1943, providing valuable experience for Nakajima engineers, who later used it in the G8N1. In mid-1943, the decision was made to convert the unsuccessful Nakajima G5N2 prototype bombers into huge Nakajima G5N2-L Model 12 transport planes with serial numbers 21-01, -02, -03, and -05. By the end of the war, two G5N2-Ls survived, with numbers 21-03 and 21-05 (plane 21-02 crashed in 1944 at Kanoya Air Base, and 21-01 was destroyed by the Americans at Tinian).

Construction description
The Nakajima G5N2 is almost identical to the Nakajima G5N1 plane in War Thunder. There are only minor differences between them. The first is the use of Nakajima NK7A Mamori 11 engines with 1,870 hp (1,375 kW) instead of the Mitsubishi MK4B Kasei 12 engines with 1,530 hp (1,140 kW). The second change was the use of four-blade metal propellers with a diameter of 4,250 mm instead of three-blade metal propellers with a diameter of 3,900 mm (in the game, the G5N1 has incorrectly modeled four-blade propellers).

The Nakajima G5N2 is an interesting bomber for Japan in War Thunder. This plane, with its huge bomb load, is an improved version of the G5N1, with better flight performance. This plane would be a good complement to the G5N1, providing better performance. It’s perfect to include in a folder with the Nakajima G5N1.
