For some reason, both the NF-5A and the Thai F-5A do not have SAS damping, despite:
- The switches still being modelled in the cockpit on a left rear control panel
- Those switches being true-to-life
- The Chinese F-5A, US F-5C, and Norwegian F-5A(G) all having it (the former being basically identical to the Thai F-5A short of sidewinder types)
- Some open but unanswered reports about the NF-5A having it missing, including relevant manuals, but not specifically for the Thai F-5A (hence this post)
and in game for the Thai F-5A:
and for the Canadair NF-5A in game:
…is there an actual possible reason for this to be the case? Something like an export downgrade that I don’t know of? or did they just genuinely forget some line of code to enable SAS damping (assuming there’s no FM issues as other F-5As have this)
The lack of damping significantly messes up flying the F-5s in sim, whether on takeoff, landing, managing aoa in a high-speed fight or not throwing the nose too hard in a low-speed fight.
