My su-30sm vs j11b impression

this is a J-11D prototype iirc, not a J-11B, provide an image of a J-11B with underbelly dual PL-12 racks, or one with a reliable source, and where do you get 10+2 from? it would still be 8+4, it can’t have PL-12’s on the outermost wing pylons that are not PL-8B

edit, I’m pretty sure it is not J-11D, ye it’s not and those are bomb racks, not PL-12 racks

It’s indeed a J-11B, specifically the prototype for the J-11B Block 02 if I recall correctly, definitely not the J-11D - the SU-30SM is getting things it never carried in real life because other jets of similar category got them, so I don’t see a issue here nonetheless.

Just a typo, it would be 8x PL-12s and 4x PL-8Bs, the total amount of missiles would still be correct (that being 12), I was thinking about the SU-30SM whilst typing that.

I am almost certain those are bomb racks. Unfortunate, but that is the way it is.

ye i was thinking of a different yelo flanker that was in a similar angle to this, only after looking at the image again did i see it was J-11B, but i don’t think we should add fake pylons for the sake of why not i’d be happy with good PL-8B and good PL-12

i’d be happy with good PL-8B and good PL-12

A loadout of 6x PL-12s isn’t really a meta thing and especially at around 14.0, It’d prefer a slightly ahistorical loadout like nearly every other nation is getting at this point, or the PL-12A at the very least.

The J-11B should’ve honestly been added a while ago, we should’ve gotten the J-15 this update to match the F/A-18.

Su-30SM and Su-27SM belly racks should get removed, but that is no reason to fabricate loadouts for our own jet.

That, I agree with.

We’ll have to wait and see gaijins interpretation after someone inevitably submits a bug report.

Run the tests closer to 660-700 kmh, I find the su-27 loves to rate at those speeds, might make a little difference but yea the su-30 is going to be a 1 circle god and should not rate very well unless we get the sm2 upgrade

At high speeds the su-27sm gets even better due to the power (compared to the other flankers), so I assume it would be the same case for the j11b.

I wrongly assumed the su30sm had similar or stronger engines than the 27sm. Thats why I thought it would get buffed and since it is already powerful enough right now I was worried

Some Su-30sm use the Blue afterburner others don’t. So that indicate better engine. But what engine? its unknow. Also Su-30sm should be able to use 177c(AL-41 equivalent) engine. Literally every flanker can use them. Its a matter if Russia will stop making AL-31fp and instead field 177c.

Hopefully as I have both ru and Chinese flankers, I have noticed the SM is a rate fight monster at 680-700 so hopefully with the j-11B’s new engines and if they model it right it will also be lighter due to composites it should be quite a monster

The su-30sm uses the FP’s, the one with the su-35’s AL-41’s is the 30SM2 variant but I do agree that they could technically swap the engines out with most of the flankers as the AL-41’s are pretty much the same in size it’s just internal differences that make the power output greater

As of right now, the j11b has the same engine power as the su-27sm, and from my testing, the j11b seems to be a bit lighter, so it should have slightly higher sustained turn rates at any speed against the su-27sm

There are differences. “The AL-41F1S fan diameter was increased by 3% over the baseline AL-31, from 905 mm (35.6 in) to 932 mm (36.7 in)”. That is why new engine Izd.177S. Can be use on AL-31 platform without problems. I guess we have to way for some news that they start fielding this new engine.
