Yeah, that is entirely seperate issue. Especially when you also factor in the diminishing returns mechanics where the more bombs you take, the less reward you get
ive seen a million of these threads and most of them offer a terrible solution that leaves one side to rot.
Why not add separate bases that only strike aircrafts can see and damage whiles keeping existing bases?
It’ll certainly offer a variety of options for strike aircrafts and increase their chances of bombing bases
It forces players to try to take down enemies with fighter jets. If they don’t like it? they can wait 5 minutes for A2G
You can get A2G in 5 minutes with few enemies left
Or they could just reduce reward modifier for fighter, they done it before for rockets so i am sure it’s doable.
Waste of an airframe?
F-18s can use bombs without removing any missiles.
Mig-23’s removes R-60s.
These are also multirole aircraft.
The only reason “fighter” exists as a label in War Thunder is tasks and spawn point.
@Zodicab The last time rewards were reduced the forums correctly rioted.
Hold it again. That mechanic explicitly targets bases, not vehicles. You can grab all the bombs you can carry and wreck ground units. There should not be a deduction.
Labels/vehicle categories in WT are completely arbitrary and rarely correspond to the real situations, where vehicles often have different roles. This goes for air as well as ground.
Only because for example the milan is labelled as fighter in WT doesn’t negate the fact that this aircraft was specifically developped (from Mirage III) as attacker/bomber.
Or similarly in ground: In WT a vehicle can only be a TD or a AA. ADATS by design is both! The Hellcat was categorized as TD when it entered the game, later re-categorized as LT.
And generally also the higher up in BR / the more modern you get, the more roles vehicles tend to have. F-16, F/A-18, Typhoon, Rafale, etc are all multirole aircraft, restricting what can do or carry by this arbitrary category “fighter” just doesn’t make sense in my view.
You can re-arm A2G at the airport after 5 minutes (mentioned in the post). As I said many planes need to be renamed. The real purpose is to force people to find ways to destroy enemy planes.
Best solution.
Already hard to fathom that they can.
An RB EC game mode at the moment is far fetched at the moment in my opinion, especially since Gaijin is doing an Infantry CBT. At best it could only appear in the weekends since it’ll divide queues and create more problems with their “server infra”. In Gaijin’s eyes ARB despite how rotten it is, is still more profitable. It’s fast, it’s there, and is easy to change.
I don’t mind having it, but I don’t think Gaijin will ever implement it not until the 2050’s.
This was confirmed on the dev stream I think. They are working on the world war module instead.
There’s fundamental design issues with ARB and it’s made worse because of the grind.
First of all the tiers have a large gameplay difference, top tier especially.
The grind is the carrot and the stick that molds the players incentives.
The grind creates a chase for the highest value. Whatever is the largest reward with the least randomization players will chase. Air to air isn’t it nor will it ever be it due to jets not getting chaff or full loadouts to start, skill issues, upranking etc. Though players will chase the furball so they can J out and find another match.
SHOULD ARB focus on A2A? Personally I don’t think it should. It needs incentive to break up the furball and spread players across the map. Even having players defend your objectives. But that requires real design.
