My Desired Light Tank Tree for Israel

As the title implies, I’m here to share my desired “Light” Vehicle tree for Israel. Many people have the belief that Israel doesn’t have many vehicles for a dedicated light tank tree, however, this is far from the truth.

The list below is not necessarily the order of which these vehicles should be placed in a Tech Tree.

For starters, this vehicle below is an Israeli Modified M24 Chaffee using an Israeli/Italian 60mm HVMS in service with Chille. It would make a lovely first addition to an Israeli Light Tank Tree.

This next vehicle is an M113 also mated to an Israeli/Italian 60mm HVMS.

This next vehicle is the Israeli PT-76-2000, which is an upgrade package to the PT-76 using a Belgian Cockerill 90mm MK3 cannon in place of the original 76.2mm D-56T cannon. This new gun could fire APFSDS, HEAT-FS, HESH, HE, and likely a few others. The vehicle also has an upgraded power pack, making it more mobile than the standard PT-76. The vehicle also received an FCS overhaul which gave it a Laser Range Finder, Day/Night Sight, and a better turret traverse.

Not much to say about this one, but it’s basically the same BMP-1 the Swedish Line gets, but in Israel. Israel captured them from Egypt. I’m unsure if Israel used them, but seeing as we have the Shilka, it would be fine, probably.

This next one is another vehicle upgraded by Israel (Specifically NIMDA) for Chille. Similar to the Chaffee, this Bulldog has been refitted with an Israeli/Italian 60mm HVMS.

Another vehicle using the 60mm HVMS is an Israeli Modified Export for the AMX-13 (Made by NIMDA).

This next one is the IDF Carmel. Though I don’t know much about it myself, it has a crewless turret and an autocannon.

This and the next vehicle might be hard to balance based on WarThunder’s current BR climate, but this is an M113 fitted with an Israeli SAMSON Mk.1 Turret. This is the same turret that’s currently on the Namer-30 in-game.

Similar to the last vehicle, this is an Israeli Achzarit APC, an uparmored and redesigned T-54/55, fitted with the Israeli SAMSON Mk.1, found on the Namer-30 in-game.

Similar to the current Namer-30 we have in-game, it has a second version. Following the failures of the SAMSON Mk.1 Turret, improvements were made. The Namer-30 SAMSON Mk.2 improved the turret armor drastically. Unlike vehicles such as the Vilkas with this same turret, the Improved Namer IFV featured a higher protection RCWS-30, capable of withstanding Autocannon fire. This second version was also equipped with an Israeli Trophy APS system.

When Israel found themselves in need of a vehicle capable of rapid deployment, they found their Merkava and Namer to be insufficient and slow. The 60-to-80-ton behemoths simply weren’t cut out for that job. As a result, Israel developed the cutting edge Eitan 8x8 APC. As a further development, they wanted an IFV variant among its ranks. As such, similar to the Improved Namer-30, they gave it the uparmored SAMSON Mk.2 Turret. However, Unlike the Namer, this vehicle was fitted with the Iron Fist APS instead of Trophy.

These are the “Light” Vehicles I’d love to see come to the Israeli tree. They’d help develop this Tech Tree and give it options. I want to see this tech tree Flourish, so if you have any you’d like to share, feel free to share them :D

At 6BR?

APFSDS slinging Chaffee, my beloved

The Chaffee is a decently mobile platform and the 60mm HVMS uses APFSDS. It is currently found on 8.0 or higher vehicles.

When I said Start with, I don’t mean start the tech tree. It’s just an easy way to slide into the list.

Israel really needs more light tanks I’m surprised all they added last update was the Namer 30.

It wouldn’t even be that hard for them to add most of these. They’re just modifications of existing models in-game.

Calling the namer 30 a light tank is the saddest joke gaijin has ever done

The Carmel was a prototype and I believe it never really left the drawing board except for some small scale models

I like these, I hope a few get through and into the game. Especially the Chaffee, I love the Chaffee in it’s current form, but this one would be really fun to play also.

Israel certainly need it .

I’d add the standard PT-76B to this list. Israel captured around a dozen of them in 1967 and pressed 9 into service after some slight modifications - flipped commander hatches, a 4th crew member, and a turret-mounted LMG. This would be 5.3 but still a good addition. And we desperately need Rank III anyways if nothing else to get the M-50s.

How to spot a Israeli modern tank:
If Flat AESA radars are installed, Yes
Concrats, you found a Israeli tank

IFV and Light Tank in WarThunder are under the same designation.

This version of the Carmel Demonstrator isn’t a Mockup and fully works as seen in this video.

Maybe, but that’s a 5.3 and would require a BR lower than 6.0.

The only way we’d get that is if Gaijin does something similar to the AA again.

I found another Israeli Light Tank that could be added.

This is a BMP-2 with an Elbit UT30 Turret and an Iron Vision “Star” system.

Fair enough I was wrong

To be honest, I didn’t know either until I went and watched some Elbit videos on it haha.

Also, the commander optic on the top stretches up really far

Not a light tank but didnt they do an M51 with the dorsal MG removed and reduced the crew by one? They could add that to the game and make another tank for 6BR.

Would any of your suggestions be pitched at 6BR?

Yeah, it’d ideally be part of a full Rank III addition. Israel needs to get the M-50, the first, most significant, and arguably most famous domestic tank design. I honestly don’t know why Gaijin started at Rank IV and not III or lower.
