Firstly, we are entering a stage in the game where we’ll be limited in terms of adding MBTs (Main Battle Tanks) to each nation’s tech trees. We already have some of the most advanced versions of certain vehicles in the game, and if they aren’t the very top versions, we’re probably only 1 or 2 upgrades away from reaching their peak possible improvements.
With each update, we’re getting vehicles from other nations added to different research trees in the typical “copy and paste” style, where the few differences between them (if there are any) are either in the ammunition or slightly different armor, but not much different from the original version. Some even introduce new weak points, like with the Leopard 2A7 HU.
I fully understand the need to add the same vehicles to other nations that acquired them this makes sense ! However, I worry that ongoing disputes between countries, especially in regions where we know conflicts are currently happening, could eventually cause the game to lean even more in favor of specific nations, like Russia, which is already quite strong in the game.
In the current conflict, we’ve seen that Russia has captured various Western vehicles for display and possibly to study how to counter them in a future scenario something I hope never happens. So, how could we maintain balance if Russia were to obtain modern versions of American, German, British and French vehicles in the game ?
In my opinion, if this situation arises, modern captured vehicles from other nations should be introduced regardless of who captured them as event vehicles, premiums, or even future Battle Pass rewards. I don’t see any other way to balance the nations besides this. Russian players are already known for just pressing " W " on their keyboards and managing to destroy three enemy vehicles without any particular strategy, so imagine Western vehicles being added to an already strong nation whether through vehicles or current top-tier aircraft that are already in the game.
You might be thinking : “But we already have captured vehicles for other nations at mid-tiers (5.0 / 6.7).”
Yes, we do, but these are vehicles that have always been relatively easy to counter and didn’t have the support of aircraft or armor systems (like spall liners) that would make them tough enough to withstand three or four hits.
Leave your opinion in the comments if you have a better idea for introducing captured vehicles into nations that are already strong due to their own development capabilities in the global war machine or if you think this won’t happen in War Thunder.
Your opinion is important.
