quick question — in Ground Realistic Battles, how far do shells actually stay active before they despawn?
I was thinking about trying some long-range indirect fire with HE shells, just for fun. So, is there any real distance limit where the game stops simulating the projectile, or could it technically hit something really far away if the arc is right?
I’m not entirely certain but i think there is a limit at which point shells self destruct and it might be different from shell to shell as well, though i’m not sure.
They don’t despawn unless they leave the map area. You can see them sometimes sailing off into the distance, esp. from the air.
The real limitation to using indirect is that the maps/ranges are too small for most guns.

Certain shells have a self-destruct safety after a set, non-changeable distance. Also rounds smaller than 20mm AFAIK have a hardcoded limit of 1.75km regardless of a self-destruct fuse or not.
