For WW2 it was very limited, for the Cold War it wasn’t as common until later on. Now though it’s uncommon but uncommon enough to be noticed.

I feel like this needs to be taken on an “Era on Era” and “Nation on Nation” basis since there is some nations that did have women in the army and in large numbers Cough Soviet Union Cough. However it would be a little ahistorical and weird to have female voice lines in a WWII American, British, French, German, Italian and Japanese tanks and aircraft for example since they don’t really have Female tank or air crew and these nations only really accepting Female crew post WWII at the earliest.
Maybe instead for nations that don’t have Female service members in WWII (or at all in some cases) we could have lets say have the chance that the crew was still all Male but African American for the US as an example since African Americans definitely served in all branches of the US military from the US Civil War onwards
Overall +1 but this subject needs to taken with the upmost care since if done incorrectly it will attract the wrong type of people
One final thing Female voice lines are already a thing in the Swedish TT, Finnish Subtree and maybe the Israeli TT (though i could be wrong with the final one)

This suggestion seem’s to have brought up a pretty good debate. didn’t expect it to go so deep though lol. Cool to see different sides and perspectives. Just seemed like a cool topic to bring up and get opinions. TBF there are a lot of female profile icons you can obtain ALTHOUGH they’re aviation related and the one that exists for sweden which shows a female tanker it seemed like something interesting to throw out there for a back burner thing. Still though with the current crew voices it would be nice if the voice lines changed rolls throughout respawn for more crew immersion? again with the whole squad controlling the vehicle thing.
Again… as long as they don’t screech like anime girls im fine with it.
There are actual women with actual normal voices… if they add that im totally fine with it

I say yes, because that is appealing to both sides.
Why you ask?
If you want realism in your game, you can set default setting of crew voices in sounds.
If you want female crew voices, you can also set that in sounds.
If you prefer only male, also an option in sounds.
Because now we focus only for people that like realism and historical accuracy. I can understand that, however I think one should not force their preferences upon someone else. That means I will not force only feminine crew upon your game, however please do respect my choice.
Plus I am sure this would also appeal to new players coming to the game, who would like such option in the game. Remember: It’s not something that will be forced upon you, because the crew sounds only you hear. It’s like with user skin downloaded from live.warthunder site. Only I see what I chose. You don’t see my anime, or Jennia, or alternate history skin c:

ah yes, the hyper-realistic game we play called War Thunder. Where Tigers actually work, Era-based matchmaking doesn’t exist, Prototypes never fielded in battle are in the game, large scale battles between modern vehicles exist, etc.
This game has some realistic mechanics, but a reason being “its unrealistic” is hilarious considering we have matches where it is US vs US or USSR and the US vs Germany. I have no issues with any of these features because a truly realistic game would be exceptionally boring.

I don’t think this is nonsense necessarily. I’d love to see it, but one of the only valid reasons for not wanting it is to have Gaijin work on smth else. I think I’d like to see many different voices (whether Masc, Fem or Andro) for the radio, as it’s getting a little stale with certain nations. Hopefully that comes w/ a whole overhaul to the voices as they’re lacking.
Though I love hearing the French saying “Tonk!”

About voices, yes i wanna same things in game just like u. Finnaly thing, actually female commander voice kinda depends on era. Ofc in WW2 most commander were male. But in the modern age female soldiers and commander becom a more common. In War Thunder we got even “Anime Girl Helicopter” is historically accurate too.

I wouldn’t hate if it depends on Era (as I mostly play Modern vehicles), but I doubt they’d have different voicelines depending on era. You can still hear modern tanks saying “Tiger 1!” if you rangefind it (unless patched)
