Background
Moldova inherited 34 MiG-29s, including some capable of carrying nuclear weapons. However, the country lacked the resources to maintain and operate such advanced aircraft. In the 1990s, concerns grew that some of these jets might be sold to countries like Iran.
To prevent that, the United States purchased 21 of Moldova’s MiG-29s in 1997, both to keep them out of potential adversaries’ hands and to study their technology. The remaining aircraft were gradually retired due to cost and lack of maintenance.
The variants that they operated were the:
- Mikoyan MiG-29 (9.12 “Fulcrum-A”)
- Mikoyan MiG-29UB (9.51 “Fulcrum-B”)
- Mikoyan MiG-29S (9.13 “Fulcrum-C”)
More information
The picture of the MiG 29 that i provided is a MiG 29 UB (trainer), however that doesen’t mean that it shouldn’t be added to the game since we do not have a MiG 29 UB.
This camo is arguably one of the best camos that were used by Moldova, therefore out of all the camos this one would represent Moldova the best. See picture below as a reference to other Moldovan MiG 29s
