Modern ARH (FOX 3) Missile - History, Performance & Discussion

Yeah i never had my hopes up for Aim-260
Its just gonna be another ultra longrange missile that isnt competitive in war thunder

Couldn’t it have something similar to R-73? TVC is not visible in this case as well

R-73 missile11

NVM, This image should debunk that as well

Maybe the fins would increase its G pull or it could have TVC inside (or not have it at all)

I don’t see anything like TVC so i don’t think it has TVC :(

Most modern tvc missiles use jet vanes, i think it would be the same for aim260 if they used it.

I think we should push for more accurate aerodynamic gpull for missiles, like its insane when you see something like python 5 ingame and comprare it to real life footage, people cope about “being ground launches” like it should be that massive of a difference, ive seen my beother play the spyder and the pythons are pathetic

any info on 260’s seeker ?

AESA i would assume ?

None afaik, the program itself is special access.

Imo this would only increase the weight of the missile for no reason.

Gaijin: “The missile looks just like the AIM-120 so we know it will have the same capabilities”

I wonder if 16 AIM-260 F-15EX will ever happen

probably not IRL

because they will probably switch to 4-8 aim260s and 2-4 LREWs for the air superiority mission, because its main function is to provide long range missile support for the 5th gens

i mean all they need to do is mount the AIM-260 on one of the F-15EX outer wing MRML pylons and compatibility for MRML in general is proven

oh yeah, I was just talking about IRL loadouts

in game we probably will be able to get it

At an estimated $5.8 million dollars per missile as per the australian deal (sure US will get a better price, but likely not by much), I HIGHLY doubt it…

16x JATM as per the Aus deal would be ~$92.8 million dollars, about $10 million above the fly away cost of an F-35A, and a touch over the flyaway cost of the F-15EX itself at $90mil. Hell, drop it to $3mil and you’re still looking at $48mil in missiles only, which is more than 50% thr cost of the aicraft…

The JATM is moronically expensive at almost 6x the cost of an AIM-120D. I’m surprised the Australians were stupid enough to buy it quite frankly.

And for the record, the PL-15, its direct competitor (which, lets be honest, is likely a superior missile as well) is estimated to have a cost in the ballpark of the 120D… I dont think the JATM is worth 3-6 PL-15’s…

Its just another example in a long line of examples showing how stupidly overpriced american hardware is and yeah i highly doubt the Aim-260 will compete with the PL-15

i expect it to compete with the pl-15, just dont expect it to compete with missiles like meteor/r-37m

And why do you think so?

What was the range of PL-15? I forgot

for the PL-15E (the export version) exceeding 145km, for the PL-15 it is not stated anywhere reliable

£4,311,575?!? its more per shot than Meteor. That’s wild I thought it was supposed to be the AMRAAM replacement but at that cost per shot I’d expect more mixed loads of 260 and 120 than pure 260, then again US budgets are massive so maybe?
