Missing internal plates in Maus since last update

2

Since the last update I’ve noticed Maus is missing almost all the internal 20mm plates from the damage model/x-ray.
Why do I think this is a bug/mistake?

  1. The internal fuel tanks are still labeled as “external”, meaning the 20mm plate that separated the fuel tanks form the driver and radio operator/machine gunner compartment should still be there
  2. There is no change (that I’m aware of might be wrong) in the update log about any change to the Maus damage model/x-ray view

Unless this is an forgotten change that was left out from the patch logs this needs to be fixed because it makes the tank way more vulnerable to being overpressured by smaller caliber HE (any 105mm HE and beyond can now overpressure Maus while before it required at least an well placed Russian 122mm HE to trigger overpressure).

To be fair, the 20mm internal bulkhead plates never worked, for some reason their real thickness used to be 0mm instead of 20mm of armor armor. I did a bug report on it months ago: Community Bug Reporting System

As you can see, the shell penetrates the side armor, penetrates the 20mm (real value 0mm) internal bulkhead plate and after detonating the shrapnel penetrates the bulkhead plate on the right side (looking from the front). All this before the patch when the Maus had it’s 20mm bulkhead plates. See this issue report for more information: Community Bug Reporting System

🙏🏻 Please fix my overgrown rodent! 🥺

If you look at the footage of the internals of the maus, you’ll find out that some of the 20mm plates are actually supposed to be 50mm plates.

For example the plate with hatch between the driver comparment and engine is a 50mm plate. And the plate seperating the transmission from the gun basket comparmet is also a 50mm plate.

Or simple things like the engine/radiator covers are displayed as only 10mm, while in reality the plates are 50mm thick. And yea sure they have holes in them for the air to pass through that makes them weaker. But still a big differance.

Internal we have some thick 50mm plates missing in the turret aswell. Seperating the 75mm ammo from the breach. And partially seperating the coax mg from the 128mm breach. (Unmodeld gun hinges probably)

As a bonus the engine in game is underperforming.
Has no name but 1200HP at 3000rpm.
Based on the 1200HP its a 44,5L Daimler-Benz MB517 (converted marina varaint)
But this means it should produce 1200HP at 2400rpm.
This change could make turning slightly better.

Have a load of pictures and a link to internal footage in this bug repport if you’d like.

Just trying to get as many ppl as possible to report on the inaccuracies in general.

Good news Chicken_ro! Game moderator on steam named magazine2 noticed my comment in their last ‘‘it’s fixed’’ post and is going to look into the bug report you’ve made.

Update:

Praise it be!
Thx for making it more visible!

It honestly is impressive how they manage to utterly butcher parts of the game they didnt need to touch.

Spaghetti code for an 11 year old game, that probably went trough multiple hands that no longer work for Gaijin.
It’s a disease of games that get developed for a loooong time (a good example would be WoW), it cannot be cured, only it’s symptoms be dulled, and at some point it’s just better to start from scratch.
