Missed opportunity for a more unique "Skink" SPAA choice for the American line:

We just got the same copy-paste Skink (the exact one we got for Britain) for the American tech tree with just a default camouflage change:

American:

British:

The Skink Anti Aircraft 20mm Quad prototype tank(s) IRL had a different armament re-fitting of both the 20mm Hispano-Suiza aircraft cannon AND the simpler Oerlikon-designed Polsten 20mm cannons later after:

Hispano-Suiza:

Polsten: (note the casing around the barrels)

We basically could have gotten a more unique “Skink” for the American tech tree in the form of a way more faster-firing Hispano-Suiza Tipo 404 20mm cannons having 700 RPM and a slightly different designed turret rather than just the same Polsten-equipped 20mm Skink stuck with 450 RPM from the British tech tree. It’s also worth noting that the change from Hispano to Polsten actually caused historical issues in the form of reloading being only shortened magazine-fed while also having fitting issues with the gun itself.

I just wish certain vehicles would just stop downright being copypasted entirely when there are also certain changes they could add to make them more unique and different instead of grinding them out again in yet another tree. : /

The copy-paste problem is just ridiculous nowadays. They add in a new nation and almost every vehicle is copy-pasted, and sometimes it’s the wrong variant too. I can’t help but get the feeling that the company has fewer resources for adding new vehicles and might be struggling, so they copy-paste instead to inflate the amount of vehicles they add.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice to have holes plugged up, but it just seems so carelessly implemented and out-of-place sometimes.

Sorry, but the US tree shouldn’t have gotten the Skink in the first place. The US have at least 2 dozen indigenous SPAA designs that can be added to the tree. Simply adding these eliminates your copy-paste problem in the first place.

The US didn’t even have interest in the project. Why should they get the Hispano version? It should go in the British tree like the original Skink.

No. Just why? That would be like adding the Early and Late variants of the same plane to two different trees, and there is no way to justify that.

And like Jarms said, the US didn’t even have any involvement with the Skink.

Here’s a list of 20mm options:

T10E1 Half-track:

  • 2x 20mm Hispano 404

3 Elco turreted vehicles:

  • 6x .50 cal & 2x 20mm Oerlikon (on truck)
  • 4x 20mm Oerlikon (on truck)
  • 4x 20mm Oerlikon & 2x .50 cal (on half-track)

T85:

  • 4x 20mm Oerlikon (T19)
  • 4x 20mm Hispano (T19E1)

M114A2:

  • 1x 20mm M139 (HS.820)

M113 (unsure of official designation):

  • 2x 20mm Rh 202

M113A1 (unsure of official designation):

  • 3x 20mm HS.820

The US never needed the Skink. Just a lazy and pointless addition. This is just 20mm US options, and there’s likely more I missed.
