Misiles fox 2

That Fox-2 missile—an AIM-7P—was launched at an altitude of 10 meters and hit me at 3 meters above the sea; just how much superior are American Fox-2 missiles compared to those of other nations?
Please don’t insult me; if there is anything that could have been done in this situation, let me know. But keep in mind that I was flying below tree height, and there are flat maps that have no mountains but are full of trees.
I’m new to the forum.

Aim-7 is actually a fox-1

All missiles have the same Multipath height (MP) of 60m, there is no difference there.

those with DL do get a marginal advantage in look down I think, but thats it.

MP though is not a magical shield that makes you immune.

Think of the ground as a mirror, when you fly below 60m, the missile gets confused and goes for the reflection and not you.

But if the missile is coming straight down, then it can hit you on the way to hitting the “reflection”. Likewise, if you are flying too low, then the splash damage from it exploding on the ground can hit you (very common with larger warheads like the Aim-54 and Buk).

In this instance, I think it just hit you on the way to the reflection. So changes I would make for next time.

  1. Learn how to use chaff. MP is not a flawless protection and should only be used sparingly. Hopefully it will also get removed or reduced heavily at least, because its totally ahistorical in its current extreme implentation (Skyflash for example should be able to engage targets as low as 33m, with MP not being a factor in that height, CAMM is able to engage a target at 0m)

  2. Fly higher, around 30-40m is usually optimal for MP.

  3. Even when using MP, dont fly in a straight line.

I remember that the missiles used to be more different; they said they were more realistic, and I was told that Gaijin changed them to make them more arcade-like for new players. But one thing I found strange was that I used the same F-18, the same radar mode, and the same missile in the same situation. Instead of the missile killing the enemy F-18 (the same position I was in with the Bison at a similar speed), my missile missed and sank into the ocean. How can the result be different in such a similar situation? I just want to understand.
