Now I know this is asked alot since the sales are here but I have a question. I have never had an interest for the rafale no matter how good it may be. But I have had my eyes on the mirage 2000 and the mirage 4000 ever since they were released. F1C is still expensive due to the place I live in but I might buy it. Is it worth it ?
Mid flight model, bad RWR (but you can make it work), massive amount of CMs. Radar has same issue as MiG-23s.
Magic 2s are goated for the BR, radar missiles not so much, id go as far to say they go for chaff more than the other 12.0 radar missiles.
Ground strike option are workable for base bombing, bad for CAS in GRB.
Never, ever bother with centerline pylon missiles.
Ive tried to make them work, they are simply too slow to ever get any use out of them.
Id say not the most new player friendly plane, but ultimately its your choice.
Well am grinding gripen a rn so I know my way around planes. Viggen c (my most used plane) Also has only 2 useful missiles and some junk ones. The price is a big thing for me But I cant be arsed to push through an entire tech tree just for mirage 2k and 4k
The F1C is a reliable grinder, quite noob friendly because magic2s essentially carry you to 2 kills if you understand how to use them.
The radar missiles work against slow opponents that are busy dogfighting or something. You will loose a fox1 joust with almost everything.
The centerline missiles are borderline useless.
You can carry a bomb load, not enough for 1 base if you want to bring 2 radar missiles. Or enough for a base if you carry just 1 radar missile.
You will be one of the fastest jets in the matchmaking. When I play the TT one, I mostly died in uptiers to R-27ERs and fakours, the RWR is garbage
They do. All French SARH missiles except the Super R530D use a pulse seeker head, the same as early RADAR missiles like the R-3R and AIM-9C. This means that they’re exceptionally vunlerable to chaff, usually only needing a single pop to be decoyed.
This means they cannot be used against players who are paying any amount of attention to you. Try to find distracted targets, like ones who are engaging another friendly and tunnelvisioning.
The R530 is completely useless, but the R530E isn’t. It’s bad, don’t get me wrong, but it’s effectively a super slow AIM-9G. I’ve actually found it somewhat flare resistant on side aspect targets a longer ranges, due to how much lead it has to pull it’ll sometimes completely miss rear deploying flares until it gets close.
It’s never a reliable kill, but you can fire it off against players who may or may not be paying attention to check, rather than wasting a Magic II. And, at worst, just pop up behind the enemy AI attacker swarm and net yourself a free kill.
Not really, after you shoot your magic 2s you become an 11.0 plane at best, its best to just bomb with it then shoot your 2 magics and rtb, very boring gameplay imo.
Further adding to this, the 530F is mainly to be used in situations where the target is occupied not just because you don’t want them actively defending against you, but because the 530F doesn’t give a launch warning to anybody’s RWR, only a lock warning the entire time. Meaning, if shot from behind or at an off angle, you can often hide the fact you’re started engaging somebody if you say, lock onto them ahead of time for 5-10 seconds and kinda let them forget you’re around doing it.
Yeah, it’s really good. 2 Magic IIs, 2 gunpods, 1 530E, and more flares than the rest of your team combined on an airframe that can beat anything it sees in a dogfight is really good.
I’d take it over that new F-5 always. Don’t bother with the SARH 530s though, there’s no point.
I am using a stock ja37d rn (Just got it today its my first rank8 and 12.0) And I have no issues wiping the floor with f1cs with my stock viggen. They seem awful at low speeds. Magics are scary but I have 320 countermeasures so I can just dump and run. I will see if I get it or nah
Cool. I had no problem wiping Viggens with my F1C. Your results may vary.
I am probably doing well since most people are spamming f1c due to sale.
Its certainly usable and the Phimat pod it just got is rather nice. Gotta learn its short comings and be very careful in uptiers because the RWR is useless, but it also has several strengths like Magic IIs at a fairly low BR and its funny slapping the hell out of premium Mig-23 players that dont know what htey are doing
Most players just don’t know how to fly regardless.
I had one game where I 1v2’d an F-4 and MiG-29 in it.
Huh, neat. Whats the reason behind this? Bug or intended feature?
Eh, ive prolly had extremely bad luck with them, because even in situations where i had every advantage imaginable, enemy managed to chaff them accidentaly.
Speed is probably my biggest gripe with them. The extremely small number of scenarios where they can be useful does not justify their additional weight, at least for me.
The trick isn’t just finding distracted targets, it’s finding ones who aren’t also being engaged by someone else. If they’re trying to defend against one missile, yours will also be defeated by the same countermeasures.
They’re far from consistent, most games you won’t get kills with them. But you can occasionally catch out the average premium player.
The extra weight doesn’t really factor into it in my usecase. The Mirage F1 isn’t about to win any dogfights anyways, even Phantoms can be a hard matchup. And I usually find myself throwing it away early in the match before I have to rely on my limited agility at all. Sure, it probably gets decoyed. But sometimes it doesn’t.
It’s also very easy to throw away. Thanks to the range, you can fire it off after someone 3-4 km away and pull off to deal with something else. Most people aren’t on the lookout for missiles in rear aspect at that kind of range, so it helps the odds that it’ll manage to hit something. And if it doesn’t, no big deal, you’re still way outside their ability to fight back and without sacrificing a missile to check their awareness.
My first ever rank 8 plane and it was completetly stock. I managed to clutch against an f16 and f18s. Most players just suck tbh
I got out turned by a F-4S in the F-1C. The F1C has nimble looks but the appearance lies
f1c is not that good at low speeds. If you are in a dogfight you will have to either use your magic 2s or try to outplay them.
