Mirage 2000 Thread : Variants, performance, characteristics and sources

Can’t find suitable topic so I’ll ask here
Does anyone know why is Magic II so easily flared right now?
Had a buddy in squad fire one at F-4S at around 1.5km and it was flared too easily

I’ve been having issues with the Magic II’s flare resistence ever since IRCCM was added, i feel like a schizophrenic complaining about nothing because everyone i talk to says they are so good for them or impossible to flare.

Not a single issue for me

Same for me.

Weird
I had no issues before the maneuverability was increased (Back in December or March, not sure)
It was great
But now, it doesn’t seem to work that well…
I don’t know, I won’t deny that issue could be me

Thing is when shooting a magic 2 if the person you shoot it at keep showing their behind they are cooked most of time you really need to be lucky and dropping a massive ammount of flare in an instant to lure it in total rear aspect. Second scenario: the plane you shoot at wasn’t directly showing you their engine when you shoot meaning he has a chance to flare if he drops a ton flares. Third scenario : you start to get on a lateral aspect shot meaning flare will have way more chance to be seen instead of engine so IRCCM start to be way less effective when doing side aspect launches and finally frontal side aspect and frontal aspect will almost always get flared. Also consider when maneuvering a plane can change aspect for the missile by turning towards the missile and make missile more suceptible to flaring and last but not least Large caliber flares have twice the impact of normal flares on FOV IRCCM missiles for Track supension IRCCM missiles such as AIM9M,L/i and AAM3 the caliber won’t have any impact.

PS : Note that aspect changing is quite buggy as of late so the problem might be due to the fact the second a plane start to move when you launch a Magic the Game code of the missile will confuse aspects and fuck up IRCCM use hence why sometimes non IRCCM missiles keep tracking sometimes when you flare massively.

My Magic’s have a tendency to go for flares even when its a direct shot into their engine and the target doesnt dodge at all and keeps flying straight, no clue why they do this but it happens often enough to be an annoyance.

If it’s normal magics you shoot then it’s normal if you shoot Magic 2’s well can’t help you. Maybe the issue might be due to ping on what servers do you launch your matchmakings on? Just the server of you world region or multiple servers?

I meant Magic II’s, i play on NA servers and have a steady 30-40 ping aslong as the hamster isnt dying.

I guess the snail dislikes me and gave me a bad luck effect.

Do a video

Magic 2 for me are the best right now, R73 are to inconsistent, AIM9M are solid but don’t pull as much as the magic

Literally both have exact same copy paste İRCCM. Both are bad

Magic 2 has smaller IRCCM window. Both are great btw

No, it has EXACTLY THE SAME İRCCM as R-73 in the game, and both are lackluster.

@Prof_LOGIC22 is right about the İRCCM being bad

They will not work especially against F-16 and Gripen

They will work good against F-15 and Su-27 in rear aspect, but even R-60M will work against these because of how hot they are.

Maybe thats just a skill issue then? I have no problems with any of those. R-73 works amazing in slow dogfights while Magic 2 is the jack of all trades.

İt is not “skill issue” when gripen on periodic flaring can flare 4 R-73/Magic in rear aspect sub 1.5 KM.

Stop making everything a “sKiLL iSSuE”

You know you can radar slave the seeker right?

Yes, will still get flared. Don’t need to tell me such simple things to make my argument look invalid and skill issue’d

Fine I’m just gonna keep enjoying my favorite IR missile in the game then

Magic II should have smaller post-launch seeker FoV. And AIM-9M style IRCCM too. It’s actually underperforming by a large margin still.
