Mirage 2000 Thread : Variants, performance, characteristics and sources

DA.2 is no service Typhoon,… Rafale M F.1 are service Rafales…

yeah, it boggles me that the SUE still doesn’t have a proper radar or a basic semblance of a copy paste Air-Air mode.

ah ok i though you meant earlier ones like pre production

The Super Étendard Radar is Air-Sea/Air-Ground Oriented and only uses a Lighter Air-Air mode similar to the Etendard IVM.

It’s a Sea Based Attacker, with Anti-Ship, Bombing, Long Range Penetration missions.

The CAP missions were all given to F-8E(FN) which Became F-8P later in it’s carreer.

Like M01/C01/B01 ?

Yeah my bad

yeah def, but there was a bug report on it and all
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/I9sKafEmD72g
but we should remain on topic (my bad haha)

I would presume MK.2 as Hensoldt (who make the MK.1) list ± 90. The ECRS MK.0 and MK.1 share the swash-plate with the Captor D/M whereas the MK.2 has an all new gimbal based on the Raven from the Gripen E.

The post seems to suggest it initially lacked a gun and had it retrofitted later. But IMO there’s no reason for it not to get a gun as if its going to be a monster because it has 120(?) rounds of 30mm.

I would just mention that the RBE2 XG does not seem to have been fitted to a production aircraft whereas the ECRS Mk.2 has (just) been fitted to BAE’s test airframe.

The better comparison would be between the RBE2-AA and the ECRS MK.2 which would suggest the Eurofighter’s radar has more transmitter-receivers which is normally indicative of a ‘better’ AESA radar.
The ECRS MK.2 in which case has a wider FOV and more power available to it.

That said, we don’t know which is better.

This French source from late last year would indicate that the RBE2 XG will make the ECRS MK.2 look ‘simple’ (i have no idea how they’d know that when the ECRS MK.2 is not even in-service and draws from highly classified British, Italian and American radars), but more importantly, it predicts an in-service date of 2035.

Both aircraft are phenomenal aircraft and i’ll admit I’ve made some stupid comments in the past on the Rafale which I deeply regret as they came from an uneducated and nationalistic place. Regardless of which you think is better i’m sure we can agree both are exemplary.

Oh for sure, I just mean ain’t no way Gaijin will be worried about giving it a gun over the insanely high PoK missiles that are the MICA IR.

A more recent article noted that they’re speeding up to have F.5 delivered in 2027, and as we know, F.5 comes with RBE2-XG radar.

"F5 deliveries were initially planned to start in 2029, but discussions are underway to deliver them starting in 2027. "

“Deliveries from Tranche 5 are scheduled to begin in 2027.” https://aviationweek.com/defense-space/aircraft-propulsion/decade-long-rafale-backlog-bolsters-dassault

So I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mk.2 come online and into service at the same time as RBE2-XG.

I stand corrected in that case. 2027-2030 seems to be the recurrent figure we will see when they are delivered.

I couldn’t find a source (in English or in French) on whether the XG radar has been mounted to their Mirage 2000 test airframe yet the last source seemed to suggest integration with the M2K testbed in 2028 and deliveries of the radar for 2030, you seem to be informed on the subject.

Do you know if that has been sped up or will Rafale F.5 be put into service with the RBE2-AA and retrofitted with the XG?

-5 is a mix that is true. I often heard PGM was carried by -9 only.
But, of course depending on how gaijin proceeds regarding pace of introductions and also the order in which certain things are added, -9 still is rather modern while being one of the last iterations of this aircraft. With Rafale, at least in early versions, on the horizon a capable multi role premium Mirage 2K mught become interesting.

My assumption would be that we will see a stand alone Indian tech tree while Canadian and Australian vehicles will end up in sub trees or in multiple tech trees.
All depending on Gaijin of course.

The Rafale program director allegedly said that the RBE2 XG radar will be introduced alongside with the Rafale F.5 in this audio. I’m taking this from someone who translated the audio for me as I’m not French.

They must have made some pretty quick progress because this is the same source I was referring to for 2028 integration with the M2K testbed lmao

I like you, do not speak French so i’m going off some off-hand translations.
