MIM-72e

What is the difference between the MIM-72E and MIM-72C missiles on Chaparral? I can’t find any difference in the card. So what’s the point of spending research points on the modification that unlocks the MIM-72E if the missiles are identical?

Smokeless motor I think, but dont quote me on that

In Google and WT Wiki yes, but in game these missiles are identical

I think there is a bit of a fight proving that with Gaijin or something.

It’s not a fight, it’s them either being lazy or intentionally obtuse, frankly not sure which is worse. The same reason the AIM-54 and AIM-120 still have smokey motors.

Yeah… and its not just missiles.

Loads of aircraft have it too.

They know it is bugged. There is an 8 month old bug report that was accepted.

They used to have smokeless motors. They even dropped the br of the chaparral due to the bug.

Sounds like nothing new then :D

its bugged it doesnt have one ingame, it used to but now it doesnt

just use the stock one it’s free. same with the ISR version, it gets the G variant, which has IRCCM and better lock range. still same speed and G load, all for the price just shy of 1k SL.

i, ve used most of the SAM/SPAAG around that br and the IMP Chaparal is the worst of the lot:

  • very tall vehicle;
  • crew is exposed to lmg fire;
  • without IRCCM, impossible to lock, while flares are active;
  • vehicle is not very mobile, only wheeled SPAAG’s are worse in my opinion.

some r-words at gaijin are determined to make the game less accurate and fun

Are they meant to be smokeless right off the rail? I notice if it travels far enough the smoke stops, but most of the time you have to wait until they’re in your face to launch so it’s just smoke all the way

Yes, at the moment E is exactly the same as C

thats just the engine burning out lol, they should be smokeless like the 9M (they were until gajin removed/broke it)

I gotcha thanks. If it’s been like this for so long it’s probably because they’re too worried about the infantry mode to care. If they’re gonna fix it, it’s probably after the infantry mode drops

That’s right, because MIM-72Е has same engine as AIM-9M
