Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection

So for someone not interested in political things or US/USSR main issues and not having a master’s degree in aeronautical engineering from MIT, is it true that the drag changes were reversed but the Mig29 got more weight?

No, no changes to drag. Stability at high AoA was fixed and recovery from spins is improved. If you want the specifics you can view a datamine or check the dev response in my bug report.

Go to profile of person which you want block and change normal to ignored.

By the way, I want to mention one problem with the MiG-29. It is not a very important thing, but it would be nice if they fixed it. When choosing the missile type, it gives me a choice of 2x R-27, 2x R-60M(MK - marked in option list) and 2x R-60M instead of 2x R-27 and 4x R-60M.

Yes, this is a problem with all aircraft that have their final IR missile given to it as their stock loadout. Its honestly super annoying and I wish they fixed it ASAP. Its been like 2 years

They could make a temporary fix by making the stock missiles in the inner pylons qhere you would anyways take r27

That’s a damn fine idea. I think that would fix every single instance of this issue on all planes except the JA-37 where it has its radar missiles on the middle pylons instead of the inner.

Weight was increased yes

That’s probably more effort than just actually fixing it, and it wouldn’t resolve cases where people want to bring six R-60Ms whilst they research the R-27s.

Wouldn’t be an issue since the problem would only occur if you are carrying two different types of missiles

Yeah but in that case you would make the grind harder, as you can’t carry 2r73 and 2 r27s anymore when you have researched only r27s
(In the case of the MiG-29A you would be forced to 4xR60 +2xR27 instead of 2xR60M, 2xR60 and 2xR27)

Oh really? I’ve not noticed that before.

Well, the problem is technically still present, but isn’t an issue until you have to start switching secondary weapons which isn’t necessary when running 6x R-60M

They just need to make it so stock missiles give the entire row, not just 2 of them.

(edit, for all relevant planes, not just the MiG-29 I mean)

Make life easier for everyone playing.

The easier (more favoured by Gaijin I guess) would be making it so that unlocking the stock missiles for all pylons should uninstall the “stock missile modification” and install the normal one. That way there is no need to have two different presets with one covering the “stock pylon” and the other covering the rest.

This thing is a lot more responsive since yesterday. I am flying full fuel and can feel it. Its nose is much easier to move around in small twitch adjustments for gunning and its keeping speep a lot better. Roll is faster imo as well. Gonna fly some RBs with full weapons.

I am absolutely slaughtering in the SMT rn… hell yea.

The SMT has to be good if we are going to recieve a half modelled AMRAAM for every western nation you know. that is the silver lining. And even with a Aim7F copy paste the SMT still has nothing on the high-speed rate performance of the F16C and climb. Not to mention its hyper deadly Aim9Ms.

Very happy with the meta at the moment.

The smt is very good rn because of the missiles and the radar, it just feels weird to fly

Yeah that’s why I fly it more like a Su27. Only get into knife fights if I have to. It seems really weird to do at first. But I like to just pretend this is a modernized Mig29 and brought to the Soviet Long Range Aviation standard like the Su27.

Refueling prob, longer range etc. focus on being a long-range threat instead of the average Mig29s of Soviet doctrine that were only Frontal Aviation assets.

Remember the F16 was designed dogfighter before it ever received multirole or swingrole capability. They are light rate fighting monsters especially armed only with Aim9s. Which their original design was only meant to have.

So I either stay away or go vertical and rain a R73 down on them if they get close. So just imagine how good the German mig is going to be with the R73. Sheeesh cannot wait. Ima play a few right now in the German.
