Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection

Well, technically Zaslon is the very first PESA, but PESA small enough to fit inside a fighter jet would indeed be N011M. Tho i think not only 711 was equipped with it. I’ll check the book

T-10M-12 also had N011M installed

First work on TVC for AL-31 was done as far back as 1986 (flat nozzle version, was tested on Su-27 flying laboratory. First AL-31 with regular nozzle with TVC was installed in 1989

An aircraft with an SPO-15 with a combat rating of 13.3 will never be good.

Especially once the R-77 and Mika get their J-band and become invisible to the SPO-15.

Nope, actually it’s MiG-35S for the Russian single-seater, MiG-35 for export single-seaters, and MiG-35D for twin seaters. The Russian one would be called MiG-35S, similar to the Su-35S

9.15 was planned to get L-150. You can even see mounting points on the wingtips of the airframe.

its was not pesa, its was slot array with electronic scanning, and its not even planed in mass prodiction

Spoiler

it is in the plans to integrate it because the su30, su35, su57 and mig31 are recieving this upgrade

There is absolutely zero evidence to prove it for Su-30/MiG-31, MiG-35 is a dead program and Russia doesn’t even operate MiG-29s in Ukraine.

Do you have anything to back up your claims?

ES in PESA stands for electronic scanning.

interesting table. Can you tell from where you get it?

Maybe it’s not on 156 or I’m missing it but I don’t see them on there.

there are no good quality 156 photos before it was converted into OVT, but you can see a small protrusion on the left wingtip here. This is where L-150 antennas are installed on 9.41 and 9.47 airframes.

Same protrusions are on 29OVT which is the very same airframe

its not pesa

Im a bit undecided on what these antennas actually are, since some books claim these as part of the ECM station, some say RWR antennas and some claim both?

first fighter jet with pesa is 1.42 with n014 radar

MiG 1.42 and N014 don’t exist.

Iirc for the wing tips at least ik there’s probably some ECM suite stuff in there, dunno about those tail stingers though.

Seems like the placement is a bit different on 9.41/47 (moved a wink to the right/left for their respective wing), saying that is an L-150 node on 156.

I think i found the reason why someone claimed AL-31 to be modernisation of RD-33 in that table. In 1975 Lyulka had problems with high-pressure compressor. So, they used the geometry of a compressor from RD-33, because at that time it succesfully completed the trials. But only the geometry of the compressor was taken from RD-33, compressor itself was a completely original design. Other than that AL-31F is a completely original design by Lyulka

Considering that 9.41 has changes to the wing itself, i think it’s just a tweak and not completely new design

and?

okay

Spoiler

How can a jet be the first of something when it doesn’t exist?
