“So how do you play the mig29?” “Just dont”

Watched loads of the mans vids but never seen such a neg conclusion.

Fix the damn jet gaijin!

and to think both its radar and acceleration is still overperforming.
One of the main positives he pointed out, the gimbal limit, shouldn’t be a thing for at least the german mig-29a

Overperforming radar? How?

german mig-29 wrong gimbal limits

actually reported it a while back, but closed it myself and decided to remake the report, though I never ended up remaking it cause I was lazy
It originally affected all mig-29s, but then I realized it only applied to the german mig-29a model which is why I closed it.
I mistakenly thought it would affect all mig-29 models.

Oh okay, I thought you meant the Russian one as well. I haven’t grinded out the German ones.

nah russian one and the italian one have their correct gimbal limits. It would just affect the mig-29 9-12a models from what I’m seeing

Honestly calling this “overperforming” is, while technically correct, psychologically feels like a joke.

Ever since they added the MiG-21 SPS-K they’ve been on a streak of double standards and inconsistency in realism and historically accuracy. They’ve given the MiG-21MF the R-3R missiles which the plane’s older radar could not guide, and then they also gave it R-13M1s which were never ever exported but rarely used domestically in the USSR.

That’s just one example. I’m saying this because it’s what built up the momentum for them to add the German MiG-29A with inaccuracies because they don’t care about strict accuracy and realism as much as they used to. They copy paste features (in this case from the Russian model) without being considerate of accuracy way more often than they used to.

It’s why I stopped bug reporting altogether. If they decide what they want to be accurate and what they want to be ahistorical then I see no reason to report something that might not look like a fix to them.

would also affect the sniper if im not mistaken since its a based off an 9-12A aswell

If you look at how they treat things with “technical compatibility” in modern aircraft, you’ll see that it means they can do whatever they want/whatever is easiest. They just don’t care about what vehicles actually used, and instead just do whatever fits their own balancing metrics.

Exactly… their standards have significantly dropped

He said its also blind to J- band? Radar should be even worse? Jet needs binning

The part about having better versions as premium is also my biggest gripe with war thunder. NETZ in particular…

Can the MiG-29s really go almost Mach 1.35 on the deck irl? Even planes like the F-15E can’t even get to 1.3 in my testing. I thought most if not all planes were pretty much limited not by their engine power but the air at that altitude.

why i mostly fly the SMT whenever i play the fulcrum, since 12.7 brackets downfall has been crazy the last 12 months

hell no IRL.
but it’s accurate in game as its speed limit in game is just its IRL speed limit x 1.05. (1500 kph x 1.05 is 1575 kph which is its in game rip speed)
image
chart from aerodynamics manual that the mig-29 in game is based off of displaying the 1500 kph never exceed limit.
Left axis is altitude in km, bottom is mach

yep SPO-15LM cant detect J-band even tough its predecessor SPO-10 can detect J band. J band detection doesnt appear on the SPO-15 until the SPO-15T model which is not in any aircraft that is in game, So the L-150 pastel is the only other rank 8 rwr in the soviet tree that can see J-band

well, it’s not as dangerous at 12.7 because only 2 actually dangerous J-band jets are at 11.7 and 11.0. SPO-15 on MiG-23MLD is a whole other situation
