Yeahhh idk, it’s too flat on the front to be BVP-32-50 so I’m not really sure.

(Using this pic as comparison)

well, 32-50 arent that chonky either, looking at the picture you posted earlier

Also i wouldn’t be too surprised if MiG-29K followed MiG-23MLD fate where every second or third airframe (don’t remember exactly) recieved additional 60 CMs on the top of the airframe alongside 12 in the fuel tank pylon.

su57 has 14 round dispensers

Su-57 has 42 CMs

i know

Considering that it is stealth, and probably has some othe means of protection than just flares/chaff - 42 large caliber CMs seems like solid amount. Same might be also fair for MiG-29K since they have onboard EW suite.

it has 2 LDIRCM turrets

yeah, with these in mind passive countermeasures more of a last ditch effort when everything else failed. And if those turrets are as good as Vitebsk ones - it is incredibly solid (one of the Ka-52s defeated 18! missiles with Vitebsk in a single sortie)

it always bugged me why 9.41 and derivatives never recieved those. But looking at photos it seems that 9-41 has some additional stuff installed int its spine, compared to photos of 9.31 and 9.15. And considering that books mention that BVP-50-60 were supposed to be installed somewhere in the spine - probably there wasn’t any space left anymore?

I think the excuse was something to do with RCS slop, but I’m probably wrong since it’s been eons since I looked into that.

And for the part of them just not being installed, who knows, I assume it was because they’d be tacked on during production if either of them got that far.

they apparently also serve as IRST

BVP-50-60 supposed to be flush-mounted, if books are to be believed so i don’t think it is abour RCS.

no, i meant why 9.41 which is pretty much modernisation of 9.31 project didn’t get them going into production. Reason behind 9.15 and 9.31 not having them is pretty sensible, since there were like 6 airframes made or something like that. Would love to get a close look at them, shame they aren’t shown to public.

MiG-29K 9.41 is an entirely separate program than 9.31… 9.31 was based off 9.15 from the 80s, or maybe vise versa idr entirely, but Russian 9.41s were just based off indian design specs of a modified 29M…

Anyways, who knows at this point… this shit is too confusing for me to think about right now…

Not as forgotten as the original Eurofighter tho
