yeah idk if apg 66 v1 gets tws… I think only from v3 onwards (the one found on the chinese mlu) gets datalink/tws. even then tws isn’t too important, you can just hardlock and provide guidance updates that way

Without Radar upgrade ADF cannot use AMRAAMs and Radar upgrade includes TWS a and Datalink.
Either they will upgrade the radar or will make another unhistorical plane.
Can’t they just fire them in single target track?
Radar needs both hardware and software upgrade in order to able to use AMRAAMs iirc.

Is there any reason why MiG-29 got 140 degree radar coverage while Su-27 only got 120? I thought both would be the same or at least Su-27 bigger due to being “Air Superiority” Fighter compared to MiG-29 as “Frontliner”

Lolwut? The AIM-47s were pretty advanced for their time. But the armament and avionics of the MiG-25 were primitive. Perhaps that’s precisely why the Americans didn’t really understand what they were dealing with — it never occurred to them that someone in their right mind in the 1960s would design a high-altitude interceptor with insufficient range and no aerial refueling, armed with weapons incapable of engaging targets against ground clutter.
