Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection

so you are telling me the US dosent have good pilots?

What are you talking about? It was Pakistan that fought the Soviets with F-16’s in Afghanistan.

Infact the dogfights after the Cold War show that exercises don’t perfectly reflect reality

and it was the germans that beat the US in dogfights

the Swiss admitted that they didnt stand any chance against the Mig-29 in their hornets

Only because US pilots had to come in close in a way that wouldn’t happen, they were in a worse position against R73+HMD.

I think it would’ve gone differently if they started farther out and the US planes could use AMRAAM

Mig-29 wins against the F-16 in the one circle and against the F-18 in the two circle is that so hard to understand?

i can also give you pilot interview that confirms that the US was hadycapping the Mig-29 in training exercises, so that the US pilots had a chance

Did the F-16’s get AMRAAM and start at realistic distance

The F-16’s also figured out how to beat the MiG-29.

you are asking me if i have classified info

which is a long and tedious 2 circle fight
and do you think the migs wouldnt have used the r-73 if they were able to use it?

Yeah, the thing I read about it talked about how the F-16 pilots figured out how to deal with the R73+HMD

Were the f-16s allowed to use their sparrows in bvr? Were they allowed to use amraam? All of their long range bvr missiles vastly out performed the r-27r1 most export mig 29 customers were stuck with as their main bvr missile. In bvr it is known through British trails (I gotta find the doc again, I think gunjob or flame posted it once) r-27r is pretty terrible compared to the supertemp which was an already pretty mediocre missile, compared to say a 7m. Although to be fair the early f-16 radar was pretty terrible compared to the mig 29, even having a wider notch angle and no (tws) like mode

How many of these 10 aircraft were MIG-29 or MIG-23?

2 MiG-23

That is, not a single MIG-29 with a Soviet pilot was shot down. This is just another idle chatter.
We have an aircraft that is faster than the F-16, more maneuverable than the F-16 and cheaper than the F-16. But he’s bad, am I right?

Not more manueverable above certain airspeed

this is like when rafale fans cope that it was an indian pilot that was shot down.

and what speed would that be, 900kph?
a speed that is more likely than not irrelevant for a dogfight

it is relevant becasue he specified that it is embarrising that the big soviet/ russian airforce lost to badly trained pakistni pilots in the F-16, which would prove that the F-16 is better

It can get a MiG-29 by turning around at 325 knots

sorry we use metric over here

edit it is: ~600 kph

do you really think iraqi/german/indian etc etc any other operator’s pilots weren’t trained by the soviet union
