I don’t think early MiG-29s should get R-27Es. During the cold war the MiG-29 wasn’t really equipped with them, it was only a technical possibility. It’s also more in line with what the MiG-29 was supposed to be in terms of employment
I agree, they should get R-73 and normal R-27R/T (losing R-27ERs), but when I made a poll for it while the Kings of Battle dev server was still up (aka after MiG-29G was announced) most people voted for it to keep ERs and stick with R-60s
Here @EpicBlitzkrieg87 put quite a bit of info already, I have a couple other links that tell a bit more about all the different 6 prototypes and the loadouts… best thing would be to find a manual or something akin about it

I’m sure plenty of US mains would vote to stick AMRAAMs on the F-15A too, wouldn’t make it right. It hurts both the historical accuracy of the loadout and the gameplay of it. It can and should be changed

Guys, i haven’t been flying with the regular 29s for a long time, how does it perform against the f16c in 1C rn?
Worse than it should until F-16 FMs are fixed
with flaps you can beat the f16c in 1c, but only with the mig29 9.12 and 9.13
Beats the F-16C in peak AoA but handles worse without flaps as you said and peak AoA lasts for a single turn before F-16 dominates currently

Well we have to deal with F-16C by using Su-27.
Tho i dont like using older radar and much worse RWR this is the best thing we have right now.

yeah, still is weird that the 29 can only beat the f16 with flaps ,i dont think you should NEED the flaps to beat the f16c or any other f16 in 1c with the 29, but for some reason in war thunder the 29 need flaps, when it comes to the f16 block 10 not even with flaps, is impossible to beat that thing with any 29 lol

Unless they add something like the MiG-29M, unless something strange happens, this is the last day a MiG-29 is the strongest aircraft at top tier

I don’t know… I think if they just gave it some Alpha in level flight to dynamic decelerate/cobra it will be fine.
Did you get the chance to play it on the Dev server? Not that they did anything to it. But I was smashing pretty hard in it still. Granted, not that many people had spaded and aced Su27s etc.
But the SMT still has that magical ability to retain speed over the others. I think that’s were it may shine now.
People are dumping all their energy in the new fighters very easy as they are not used to the extra alpha.
It is still very competitive, as it still has a great loadout and is still the fastest and best zoomclimbing (last one on par with the F-15) aircraft in the game, but it is definitely not the top dog anymore.
Still working (with the little free time) on making a good instructor rework suggestions, since if the F-15 drops as it is on the dev server it is another aircraft getting screwed by it (in general all stable aircraft will get screwed more), and the whole thing might get more support now that a far more popular aircraft would be helped by it as well.

Yeah I am still wishing upon a star that the instructor will be modified for it when update goes live.
But also, even without the instructor you still cannot cobra correctly in full real (still tries to climb)
They are most definitely going to add the M and K (especially since they want to get carrier spawns in the new maps/F-18s to come)
