Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection

@I_Phobos_I you are correct! We must monitor these aircraft upon release to make sure those specific technologies are applied correctly and not just visually.

Which reminds me… Leading edge extensions

You mean this proof you messaged me below?

My apologies, your interpretation is a 100% incorrect. FALSE.

Once again you have demonstrated a highly questionable reading comprehension and provided further evidence that you have no business ever touching the flight models of War Thunder. A highly complex, specialized hobby to take on and I hope the mods take note of it. @_David_Bowie @Metrallaroja @Gunjob

A leading edge extension is not a leading edge flap/slat.

Please allow me to educate you @MiG_23M on the differences of each technology and their uses.

Leading-edge droop flap
The leading-edge droop flap is a device on the leading edge of aircraft wings designed to improve airflow at high angles of attack. The droop flap is similar to the leading-edge slat and the Krueger flap, but with the difference that the entire leading-edge section rotates downwards, whereas the slat and Krueger flap are panels which move away from the wing leading edge when it is deployed.

They improve airflow over the wing in high angles of attack.
Droop flaps function with other high-lift devices on an aircraft to increase the camber.

They do not control airflow like strakes and leading-edge extensions.

Mirage 2000 Leading Edge Slats.

Incorrect.

A strake and canard improve airflow by controling it. Vortex generators are small fins that create mini wingtip vortices to energize the boundary layer and delay a stall.

The difference is that a Canard is also a foreword wing that generates additional lift along with the natural wingtip vortices as strakes do not provide additional lift themselves.

A leading-edge flap improves airflow over the wing and camber improving lift, but does not energize the boundary layer by creating a vortex flow field.

A Mirage 2000 has no canards.

Instead of large Leading-Edge Root Extensions like that of the Mig29 and F-16 the M2k is equipped with strakes.

I hope they give r73s for the 9.13 in this update, I think it’s time for the old r60s to go…

They might! allow a variety of current Mig29s to be in the actual matches except one Russian one and one German. But it might disrupt the BRs currently. They will eventually I believe as lower BR aircraft are allowed more potent IR missiles every update.

Why would they? Doing such a thing would make no reason for MiG-29 and MiG-29G to exist in German tech tree. Likewise, the MiG-29 (9-13) fills a niche role at 12.0 that isn’t quite filled very well by the Yak-141.

For the same reason the MiG-23MLD will not receive R-73. The R-60M was a unique exception because the moth has an addiction to lamp.

i want a light russian mig29 that can carry archers, i dislike the smt

Don’t worry su27 for you

The Su27 is almost 3x as big, heavier and worse thrust to weight than the smt Mytho…

I am worried

i love the su27 but the fulcrum was always my favorite aircraft even knowing that it’s inferior compared to many 4th gen, if the ussr had a light 29 with r73s in wt i would spend more time playing with the fulcrum than with the flanker

Put Russian camo on MiG-29G

Not how it works dude, i don’t have the german tree nor free time to waste researching it

Well we will see this weekend hopefully

i’m kinda optimistic tbh

yes sir! I do think we are going to see Fulcrum changes to! Fingers crossed!

See you there!

I think since the Flanker is added the Fulcrum FM is going to be expedited.

I just want them to ctrl c ctrl v the 29g to the russian tree and call it mig29something lmao, until then i’ll keep flying with the flanker and complete ignore the mig29. Kinda funny that i’ll fly the su27 with 4 archers + 6 r27er loadout before a maneuverable mig29 with archers, i had the opportunity to fly the 9.13 on the apex predators devserver but back then the FM was gigabroke and the r73 was a joke

I want the 9-12 for USSR but I’m afraid they’ll never add it since it’s not necessary :/

I doubt we’re getting the 9.12 but in a few updates i think we might see the mig29S or even the mig29m
