Why didn’t tested with Su-30’s? Surely prototype SM version could’ve been used for this purpose right?
Missile was ordered as a part of Su-35 kit and was designed firt and foremost for it. And, well, Su-30SM was officially adopted in 2018 and first batches were delivered prior to that from 2012, which is pretty much the year when trials on Su-35 started for R-77-1

deliveries started in 2012, but officially it was adopted in 2018 after all the tests and shit. Buerocracy is a thing after all

When the hell was Su-35S adopted then?? I thought 30SM was 2013 and 35S was around 2014.

And R-77-1 was adopted in 2013. For 4 years Russian airforce had only Su-27SM3 as the sole carrier of R-77-1 on paper

Su-37? It was equipped with N011M Bars and had FCS similar to Su-27M most likely.

thought so at first too, but there is a photo of 711 with PESA
Fomin says that T-10M-11 and T-10M-12 were used for N011M tests, Plunskiy and Zenkin also add T-10M-8 into that list but say that it was used periodically

yeah, it’s the early version of Bars, so will probably be with stats similar to Su-30MKM. Also no R-77-1s. And i am not sure if it can fit 6 R-77 on the wing itself, only Su-35S can do that and maaaybe Su-30SM.
Interesting… I wonder if Su-37 was offered with N011M or if the airframe was solely used for testing.
Sounds like 13.7 material, less missiles than 27SM but better Avionics.

Mechanical Bars was considered completely inferior to its PESA version, and considering that MKI got PESA Bars as well it is safe to assume that Su-37 would be offered with it as well.
