Curious thing though, where are the HMS/HMD’s photo detectors…

Redirecting...

Not installed on this airframe.

here’s the footage from Egyptia n MiG-29M

one of the first 2 MiG-35 airframes from Военная Приёмка documentary.
As of now i couldn’t find a MiG-29K cockpit with those sensors

is that for the newer HMD style one or the older, monicle HMS one

It’s the HMD one, that ron_23 was talking about. HMS uses same old sensors on the sides of the HUD like on MiG-29SMT

Also MiG-35 got its drag shute container back

Wouldn’t shock me if 9.41R/47R didn’t get HMD/S tbh.

Russian pilots also love to just not install HMS system. From the words of Su-35S pilot on one of the DCS forums - it’s just increases weight of the helmet and majority of the situations where it might be useful for a pilot IRL can be solved with tall box ACM mode. So it could just lie somewhere in the storage of the squadron.

From the words of Su-35S pilot on one of the DCS forums

Yeah no offense to them but… I’m just not gonna believe that’s true, the statement I mean,

I can totally understand the reasoning but that guy is likely a 35S pilot like I am a F/A-18C MLU-II pilot.

Anyways, I kinda doubt that it’s a matter of not needing it since at least Su-35S has the photodetectors for picking up HMS/HMD movement, at least that’s my understanding.

Well, he told some believable things about Syria deployment, but obviously there is no hard proof that he is, in fact, an Su-35S pilot

I saw some of the Su-35s without those sensors installed as well. I can try to look for photos, but i haven’t saved them

Nah you’re an Su-34E pilot remember? Tell us all about the functioning MAWS/L-150 suite in it…

MiG-35, while having slightly worse “numeral” characteristics like weight or available G-load has much better responsiveness due to faster actuators of control surfaces

compared to what tho

To the older MiGs. Judging how he referred to them as “alarm clocks” i’d say he was talking about soviet era 9.12 and 9.13 airframes

Quite hilarious claim from the narrator of this documentary - Naval MiGs are 1.5 times lighter than “ground” versions

Gear reinforced by magic trust

Well, with 30% of the airframe made of composites I can be convinced that 9.41 empty weight is similar to 9.15 or, hell, even 9.13. But LIGHTER? I would be highly sceptical of that

1.5x is a lot for just composites, especially on a plane that would be heavier than normal without them

Yeah, 1.5 is most likely a bs. But avionics is also became smaller and lighter with time, N010 is claimed to be 60% lighter than N019, for example
