Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 1)

this is the smoke of regular RD-33s i take it?

Yes they make heavy trails. The modern RD-33 makes little to nothing

9.31 on an airshow, this is like the biggest amount of smoke i could see on the video (good ol’ 480p)

Many jets lacks smokeless engine at high/top tier.

Even F4E should have smokeless engines but Gaijin just refuse to fix this.

Praying they fix

should be enough for a bug report

this might be a better video for the base RD-33

MiG-35 dosent smoke either

it has RD-33MK which are more modern version with even more thrust (and an option for KLIVT)

@GitGood do you perchance have an image of the new airbreak on a mig being extended, with the drop tank?

bc currently the drop tank and landing gear block the airbreak on the 29M

well thats it from me for now

wish you guys the best of luck

Unfortunately no, because there are barely any photos of the deployed airbrake on 9.15/9.31 and i haven’t found a single one with a drop tank (only 9.31 with drop tanks under the wing)

Why does the MiG-29 tend to pitch up when you deactivate the AoA limiter? You lose control of the aircraft, and it stabilizes on its own, making it uncomfortable to use this option during horizontal turns

well then

atelast using the airbreak with the landing gear is reportable then

Honestly this is just basic logic at this point. New airbrake is a single piece on top of the airframe, THERE IS NO MECHANISATION BELOW. If drop tank will block the airbrake on the release it will be so stupid.
I just hope that this is just a lefrovers of MiG-29SMT code that gaijin haven’t cleaned up yet.

What is the reason for that you can’t use airbrake with landing gear deployed on the first gen mig?

I dunno, maybe airbrake gets too close to the ground? Might get damaged on rough landing? Ron_23 has german manuals, maybe something can be found there?

i think the reason is that the airflow would get to disturbed if the gear and airbreak are out at the same time

i wouldnt trust gaijin to do it on their own

The R73s are paralleled. We need EW pods now!

One more day fot the airbrake to be fixed
