Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 1)

Yeah i do the same thing with flankers, u only need like 25-29 mins of fuel depending on the variant to last the entire match in rb - they pretty fuel efficient and by the time u get into real combat u already down to 20mins or less which is where u want to be with them for good performance. I also just take 30mins in sim and simply dont afterburn absolutely everywhere

25% larger wings > couple dogteeth

It’s not just dogteeth. Elevators have bigger surface area, wing is also has bigger surface area when slats become active due to bigger slats. Wing loading numbers probably don’t even take this into consideration

MiG-35 will fix everything with its larger wing, krueger flaps on the LERX, slightly tweaked horizontal stabilizer and more powerful engines trust me

Krueger flaps only deploy during landing and take off iirc. And naval wing has lower G limit. And, most important of all - it is MiG-29, you will get Fulcrum tax and it will be worse than Su-34

is this data from the mig-29 flying through time book?

i dont have that book but i assume its mostly the same from the books i have, judging from the pictures saprano shared of the book in another thread

I actually went and did it myself because I was curious. I assumed fuel consumption for 600 mph on afterburner, and requiring 2 minutes of afterburner time gives me these numbers.

Calculating for 2 minutes of burner time gives these masses:

This results in these turn rates:

TL:DR the MiG-29M is still arguably the worst FM at 13.7 which would look even worse if I included the negative SEP lines but that would clutter the charts too much. Color me completely unsurprised.

Is the 29M model still ugly or did they improve it?

BRUH why grippen engine has so low consumption, what is bypass ratio?

rd133 not rd33mk

Thanks for doing it. I was busy and couldn’t do it, but after looking at the results, they’re what I expected. A little boost to the FM would be appreciated, considering the poor FM compared to the competition and that they’re R77

The engine is based off the F-18 engines, which iirc are pretty high bypass for a fighter engine. Plus it has the lowest thrust by far in this comparison.

The Gripen has a modification of the F404-GE-400 engine with many features shared with the GE-402 model in some F-18C’s. The engine was designed from the onset with some specific goals in mind, mainly efficiency and longevity but also the ability to be modified and installed in a variety of airframes.

TL;DR - They use a modification of a legendary American engine.

They are lower bypass ratio than most. The EJ200 for example is 0.4 bypass ratio iirc, the F404 is approx 0.34. The core flow of the Volvo modification was increased further, so the bypass air has little to do with it. The core flow is just really efficient for a turbofan. Combined design from Saab and General Electric.

clearly AI

here the exact same airframe, you can see the number on the side intake is not here, the nato logo behinde gears is a lot lighter than its suppose to be. and the quality of the image.

also this image might be based on this exact one

us engines has specific meanings of longevity during the repair process, they can almost completely reassemble it
btw i was checked normal data from statshark and mig29 has 4.9 not 5.9 so it fit to higher overral pressure of f404
but btw grippen still paper shit, it has no pressure loss at high alpha with this shit air intake
it must be 0.1 - 0.3

Wonder if we can expect dev server updates before it closed?
