Oh yeah, you are right, they wer added in the same update. But yep, back at the time Su-27SM only had 6 fox-3s, AL-31F engines, HMD with 10km lock range and R-77s that were only somewhat better than AMRAAMs at close range, but lost pretty much in every other way. Oh also old scan pattern for the radar which made you pretty much blind

Unironically I think the MiG-25 currently still scans the bottom part instead of restarting from the top

I mean, it’s a matter of just slapping 2 sensors. Unlike MiG-23, MiG-29 and Su-27 have onboard computer, so you don’t need a separate computing module.

Well yes you do need to attach sources to historical reports. You can’t just point an arrow at part of the cockpit and say “that’s the HMD sensor, the HMD won’t work without it, trust me bro”.
Include some sort of source showing that the HMD sensors look like at a bare minimum.

But it shouldn’t. R-77 didn’t even exist at the time. And Yak-141 was canned before it appeared. Sure Zhuk can be updated to be compatible with them, but i don’t want another F-5C with missiles from the future.
