Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 1)

The OG way, gotta appreciate the effort, pretty long grind indeed!

Sabres, Panther, Banshee, there is so much of good Korean war era stuf in US tech tree. With F9F-2 i basically got to almost 4.0 K/D with playing mostly with one hand.

I relate, now that I’ve experienced the joy of a talisman plane the grind feels so slow with a regular plane

US premium selection is stacked fr. Meanwhile USSR has whashed Flogger and op Flanker that should be at 13.7 already. Meanwhile there are some very good Fulcrum options for a premium… or tech tree… or event… I am sad again

They shouldve added the MiG29M 9.15 eons ago

This plane is so overdue, its actually impressive how gaijin has managed to completly ignore one of the most historically and technoligically important planes of the Soviet Airforce.

This plane set the basis for almost anything that came after - it was the basis for new avionics and FWB controls and new technologies like PESA/AESA and even TVC

Well, this one is a bit of a stretch. 9.15 did bring FBW, “glass cockpit” with MFDs and digital RWR, but it never had PESA/AESA even in plans. First PESA radar on a fighter jet was first iteration of N001 on Sukhoi T-10, but dropped because of very bad performance. And the next one was N011M… on a Sukhoi T-10M. Same with TVC engines, Klimov TVC on RD-33 came later than AL-31FP. But otherwise i agree, MiG-29M 9.15 should’ve been added somewhere around Fox-3 introduction, probably as Russian flagship armed with them, and not Su-27SM.

In my opinion, the MiG-29M should be a squadron vehicle and the MiG-35S should be the one to top the MiG line.

I might be too optimistic, but I’m hoping they’re halting the introduction of those while they’re working on fixing the flight models of the MiG-29s.

9.15 as a squadron would be quite good, true. MiG-35 doesn’t have S letter btw, it’s just MiG-35 and MiG-35D for two-seater

i want double seat mig29 as a squadron. m2 maybe

Also an interesting pick. Although this one is made out of 9.41 so we have even less countermeasures than Su-33

From what I know, the MiG-35 designation is used for the export variant, while the MiG-35S designation is for domestic use. Isn’t that the case?

it seems so heres an domestic MiG-35 with the designation MiG-35S on the sign

meanwhile UAC website still uses MiG-35 only like on the old export attempts

Hm, interesting. How old is this exhibition?

photo is from august 2023 at kubinka

Mig29 m2 would be great as squadron. But limited to r77 for 13.3.

Does mig29 9.41 single seat exists?

i thought it was found in files like AIM-120D at some point. my bad

yes, owned by RSK MiG

also had some fancy paint jobs:

Ah thats why i never trusted myself.

Confusing with them using same cockpit.

yep, all 9.41 based planes use the same canopy and on the single seat version the back seat is replaced with an 630L fuel tank

I see the 9.19 curse is still alive
