Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29/35 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

I find it awesome that the MiG-35 has ±180° MAWS 30 km. It seems much more useful to me than having RWR coverage of only ±30° 50 km

While I love the MiG-35 it is currently hell in ARB… it is horrendously slow, feels like a F-18E…

The Kr at its own BR is miles better

Well, it’s what was already discussed several days ago, the MiG-35’s engine efficiency drops significantly at medium to high altitudes

Ah, so it the real adept of Soviet air superiority of low ranks - stay low and just kill everything

I don’t know if this has already been suggested before, but I thought I’d share it anyway. I actually had this idea quite a while ago and it just came back to me now, currently, the third person RWR interface in WT is basically a flat top down representation around your aircraft. It tells you the direction of a detected contact relative to you, so you can see if a radar contact, missile warning or other threat is coming from your 12, 3, 6, 9 o’clock, or anywhere in between. However, it doesn’t tell you anything about the vertical position of that contact.

For aircraft equipped with systems capable of determining that info, I think it would be really useful to also indicate if the detected contact is above or below you. It doesn’t need to show the exact altitude, altitude difference or elevation angle. A simple arrow next to the contact would be enough. An upward arrow would indicate that the contact is above your aircraft, while a downward arrow would indicate that it is below you.

This would be especially useful on modern fighters equipped with more advanced RWR and MAWS systems, particularly in situations where several missile warnings are being detected at the same time (ARB 16 vs 16 cough cough). You would still have the normal top down directional indication, but you could also immediately tell whether each threat is above or below you, which would make the info much easier to interpret and improve situational awareness quite a lot.

Obviously, this shouldn’t be available on every aircraft. It should only be implemented on vehicles whose IRL RWR, MAWS is actually capable of determining the vertical position

That’s actually a really nice suggestion

Rn most of the time I guess a little with the voice warning system but that’s not the most reliable and I dont speak Chinese or Russian

Great idea and the arrows you made to visualize it actually fit in perfectly in my opinion. This would be useful.

Clearly a skill issue

Eh, just had a friend point out to me when the Chinese voice warning system said “high” and “low” which works well enough

Hardly an easy language to learn

Alternatively, have a chevron above/below to save space.
