They are on different pylons, so why not take both? Tho i am not sure that those R-27s anything more than a wishful thinking. Iirc Zaslon still oeprates in 3cm wavelength because that’s how PVO wanted, while VVS switched to 2cm radars with N001 and N019. And R-27R seeker was designed to work with 2cm radars in mind.

N007 actually works on a higher wavelength than N019/N001s, and these themselves operate just slightly higher than 3cm.

Curious, because i read on the development of Su-27 and the fire control system and info in the book said that N001 was designed to operate in 2cm range, while PVO refused to accept this new standard for their interceptors. And this was one of the reasons why R-33 was removed from Su-27 armament options (it would require to create a new seekerhead for compatibility with N001) and the second major reason was that R-27ER simply outperformed R-33 in Su-27 altitude and speed range.

Yeah, I thought the ashtrays with smoldering cigarette butts in the MIG-25PD were a mistake or an oversight.

I think it’s worth bringing this report to the attention of the higher-ups.

Had a dream last night where they added the MiG-31 into the game and I was having fun with the R-33 missiles. I think it will be my most played jet in recent times when it gets added.

zero countermeasures death machine

It was just next update foreshadowing.

We have faith :)

“Where is your sword?”

“don’t need it”

Should come with the UV-3A dispensers, however small the cartridge count is.

where are they located on a MiG-31? I haven’t seen any solid info on that

Under the fuselage near the engines:

Gordon’s MiG-31 book mentions the UV-3A dispensers.

It seems that the MiG-31M was also tested with the Gardeniya suite, the same CM dispensers you find on the MiG-29A along the fuselage and wings:

idk which variant of mig31 has this.

gaijin will surely skip to Mig-31M trust.

same one on the photo i posted, MiG-31M. You can see 3 ejectors on the airframe instead of 2

yeah, so only mig31m gets CMs ?.
